He might've tried, but the end result was still pretty obvs GI. - BulliesPhan87
Subjective. I didn't think it qualified as interference. |

I'd play him in Toronto. The turnaround is too short for me to want to start Mase both games. - Feanor
I understand that thinking. I don't think Hakstol is willing to gamble like that, though.

They are 10-5 in OT with a goalie in the net - YuenglingJagr
They're also 3-8 in shootout with a goalie in net. |

So, question:
Let's say the Flyers are 1 point behind Detroit/Boston for the 2nd wild card spot, and don't hold the ROW tiebreaker on the last game of the season. You get the game to OT and there is one minute left.
Do you pull the goalie? - jmatchett383
I was under the impression that if you pull your goalie in OT and the other team scores, you loss the point you got by getting to OT.

You do, but 1 point doesn't help you, so the 1 point doesn't matter. You can either risk pulling the goalie to win in OT, or you can risk the shootout. |

It's great to hear the props Hakstol is getting and I do believe he should be in the conversation for coach of the year. He won't win I think Trotz has it locked up.
Also think Gord Murphy should be getting a lot of credit for the job he has done with the D group here.
They have made major progress from the beginning of the season. Manning Schultz and Amac all had really good games last night, minus the Manning penalty.
Somewhere out there Darth Vadar is saying...
I told you guys this was a playoff team.

Detroit game mean anything? - YuenglingJagr
It does, but when you get 2 against the league's best when you're not projected to, is huge. Especially at this juncture. If they can get 3-4 points this weekend a loss to Detroit might not cripple them. |

I've actually liked AMac recently, but he didn't look too great early last night. He got better as the game went on, but made some bad reads and had 2 "wtf" turnovers last night. |

Being that they scored their latest game winner with 13.6 left in OT, I keep the goalie in, take my chances in the shootout.
Just my opinion though. |

It's how I interpreted it knowing their lackluster SO history. Go for it in OT to try to avoid getting to a situation you pretty much suck at. |

Absolutely.
I even maybe think about it at the 2 minute mark and get the 4 on 3 PP type setup. - J35Bacher
Someone mentioned last night that if you pull the goalie in OT and lose that you lose that 1 pt. |

Boiled down: he's taken a team that probably wasn't going to make the playoffs to one that might. Not exactly COTY material. - Scoob
Respectfully, I think that over simplifies. This team is night and day from the beginning of the year.
Trotz is a front runner. Boiled down: he took a stacked team and did what he should've.
I am not saying Hak should win, but consideration is warranted.
Also I doubt the voters boil it down to the simplicity you did. |

Correct.
But if you need two to get in losing one doesn't matter at that point. |

You dont think Hakstol gets tarred and feathered if he pulls Mason and someone buries an empty netter ending it all? Despite their track record in the shootout they still have a somewhat 50/50 shot at winning it. You put your team in the best position to win at that exact time...history is just history...until it gets played backwards on NBC |
