OK, so we know Holtby's weakness is he can't hit the changeup - DaveofYork
If he is sitting on the changeup you might get a fastball by. Likely matters little as there wont be shootouts in the playoffs, but knowing he is beatable when they need a goal is a big help |

The one thing I question is that Couturier made the same effort that Beagle made when he hit Mason and there was no call.
Both guys were going to the net. Also Couturier did have a little help from the Caps defenseman - J35Bacher
I think it was good the refs let them play. Coots was getting called for interference before Holtby lost it. Seeing Holtby lose it made me chuckle since he wanted no part of Razor before.
I still think Coots could have avoided the contact but took his shot which I don't fault him for.
Man that game was fun. |

Trotz, Gallant, Boudreau, Sutter, Hitchcock, Ruff all before Hakstol as much as it pains me. - dragonoffrost
See it always cracks me up when teams that are stacked and do well have coaches up for coach of the year. Its guys like Haxstol and Gallant that really are the better candidates. |

The refs let them play to an extent, but also made calls that they had absolutely let go earlier on in the game. Call it or dont. |

The ducks turnaround and the fact that most GMs would've fired Boudreau make the accomplishment much bigger. Makes you wonder if he was also the reason they were so bad at first though |

Every shootout win seems like a miracle. As rare as a coherent sentence in an email from Colin Campbell. |

Flyers!
I can't believe they are going to make the playoffs. They are, right?
Is Hakstol getting any consideration for COTY? - Richard_wilderness
No he won't I also believe that Ghost will get nominated for the Calder, but he will finish third behind McDavid and Panarin as much as that is BS. |

Great game. Last years flyers would have folded after that Ovi goal. Great display of resilience. What really really bothered me about the game is that I have friends through college who are caps fans and I still talk with them on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Their talking went from : Caps are going to win flyers sucks , to oh enjoy the gimme game caps weren't even trying since we won best record. - arichardson22
The caps were MOST DEFINITELY. trying last night, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't watch hockey. I was actually impressed with caps effort beca use they had clinched pres trophy. Flyers played great, I've really enjoyed watching them of late.

Pre-season they were one of the favorites in the west. So they achieved what they were projected to achieve. They struggled at parts of the season, and have turned it around.
The Flyers were not projected to make the playoffs. They lost their top two d-men for extended periods of time. Lost their captain for a few, and lost their top winger for an extended period of time. They have relied heavily on a hodgepodge of d-men, entrusted rookies to carry a heavy load, and have improved each and every month, and since the New Year are one of the best teams in the league. Now, barring a collapse, they have a playoff spot and are coming in red hot.
That to me is award worthy. |

Well, it was probably partly due to him wanting land a shot after they had repeatedly run into Mase.
I'll say it again, I am really liking Cousins. That shootout move was sick. |

Michael Del Zotto, Andrew MacDonald, Radko Gudas, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Ivan Provorov the 5 I expect to be regulars next season. If we are able to move Nick Schultz and Mark Streit, do any of you feel Samuel Morin's only competition during training camp would be Brandon Manning? |

Same move in back to back shoot outs and it worked both times (although he missed the net the first time).
Kid is a solid player. |

Morin has at least half, probably another full season of AHL before he will be ready. And then he will have a huge learning curve. |

Missed this one. Sounds like I should go back and watch though. Saw Mase's glove save. Holy poop. - hereticpride
the play by play guy said the shooter hadn't been able to lift the puck. Buddy, Mase CAUGHT IT, it didn't go into his pads, the shooter lifted the puck! |

Ghost has definitely been noticed up here in Canada, and some of the media have gone on record as saying that the way he helped turn the team around (hopefully for a playoff spot) and the fact that all his goals were so important, means he should win it.
Problem is, McDavid is more of a name and a lot of the media will focus on his PPG and that he missed time due to injury not his fault. What they haven't been saying is that despite his play, the Oilers are STILL fighting for 30th overall. If he wins it, I will be pissed but not surprised. Panarin has had a great year, but he's played pro before and was put with Kane?? cmon. Ghost came into a bad d corps and might put us in the dance.. that's got to be worth something. But he is also a Flyer, and that's why I expect him to come third. |

I think schultz has been playing great. Schultz will be here next year imo. Morin is going to have to take that job away and im not sure if he's ready to |

Really impressed how cousins has grown defensively. There are times he gets stuck defending the first line and is able to hold his own. A really smart effective player |

Hitchcock? The Blues are right where they should be, he shouldn't even be in the running. Same really with Boudreau, every preseason forecast had Anaheim 1st or 2nd in their division, which is right where they are going to finish.
