With you 100%, been saying this for about a week now.

I don't want Stolarz starting that game. That is 2 points that the Flyers have to get. Losing that game is not an option. Putting a rookie goalie with zero NHL experience makes that a very loseable game. I know you want to give Mason a rest, but I'd honestly rather play Stolarz against Pittsburgh one of the 2 games. We're 0-2 on the season against them, and could easily lose that game with Mason. If you want a game to rally around a guy, I can't think of a better matchup. |

Caps will win in 5 , but I'll be happy with making the playoffs. - Hextall271
I don't see the Flyers winning a 7 game series either, however, until the Caps actually stop choking the pressure is on to get past 2 rounds. |

From a Caps standpoint it matters. If last night was their best, I cannot wait to face them in the first round. - SuperSchennBros
It may have been their best at this point in the season...playoffs is a whole new ballgame |

I don't get this one? He very clearly tries to get out of the way. - Blackstrom2
I'll agree, he's focused on the puck, looks up and sees the goalie and immediately tries to get out of the way.
Chimera though... |

Well it all started over the fact that I said he has played a huge part (on the 2nd unit) in this march to the playoffs. He was pissed about the penalty and said he is a slug who shouldnt be in the lineup let alone on the PP.
The dude has 3 PPG's in March, and about 3 or 4 huge screens on goals as well.
To boot, he is 5th among forwards on our team in goal scoring. - jak521
I don't think he's done much of anything to warrant being in the lineup aside from the fact that he's the best option. If they had another big body who could provide a net-front presence on the PP, White's other skillsets (or lack thereof) wouldn't justify a roster spot. That said, he is the best option, and has done a nice job. |

Honestly, the team might be better off moving White to another line where his skating issues could be masked and his offensive ability could be better used.
The 4th line only has one good skater on it, and it shows. |

Fair enough. With 6 games in 9 nights, Mason needs a break somewhere.

I think that's the way to go. A loss to Ottawa would be disastrous. And Mase has two full days off to get ready for it. |

Mase will need to play out of his mind. The current D corps isn't going to handle playoff speed hockey well at all. |

I agree, and that's another reason why I'd start Mason for the remainder. If we got into the playoffs with a well-rested Mason, he'd have to play at 2014 Game 7 level every game for us to win, and that isn't going to happen. They could push it to 5-6 games, maybe even 7, but they're not winning. If they do win it by some miracle, they're not going to the Cup. To me, the goal is to make the playoffs, and playing Mason every game is the best way to get you there. You might burn him out for the playoffs, but you're likely not making much noise anyway. |

I don't know.
Flyers are playing well. Never know what happens in the playoffs. All the pressure would be on the other team.
And this team seems to play up to their opponents level. I wouldn't count them out of any series even though they would be the underdog in them all. |

I think he would be great with Couturier. Solid playmaker. Very creative. I could see them going back to the Couturier and Schenn combo next season.
Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
Konecny - Couturier - Schenn
Laughton - Cousins - Raffl
Leier - Bellemare - (insert name) I like Bardreau but maybe they keep white vandevelde there.
I think that's 4 lines that can roll . I would move read at the draft for maybe picks. - J35Bacher
how many teams will be lining up for an overpaid read?

It could be a very competitive series. I want to see it. If they lose to a team that won the President's trophy, so be it. |

Depending on what the return is and if they Flyers are willing to eat some salary, several. Honestly, he'd be a great fit on a speed team like Detroit. |

Yup, anything can happen, and all the pressure will be on the Caps. Plus, ya just never know. I'm pretty sure that going into April of 1996, no one was picking the Panthers to go the finals.

Exactly. Although we are probably putting the cart before the horse. Still lots of work to do. I'm thinking the Flyers will need 7 points in the remaining 6 games. 96 should get them in. |

If they get 7 points, and 2 of them are a regulation win vs. Detroit, they'll make it. That's a huge game, though. |

Wings play the Wild tomorrow night. Wild are fighting for a playoff spot. If they can beat the Wings in reg that would be huge. Even bigger if the Flyers back that up with a win on Sat. Then its magic number talk time. |

Lets revisit at the end of the season. If they hit 99 points and make the playoffs, that would be pretty damned impressive, especially when you consider the following:
No one, anywhere, picked them as a playoff team pre-season
without a legit top pair Dman and with their best Dman out for the last third of the season, they improved 15 points over the previous year.
Overcame the loss of both Coots and Jake for extended periods of time.
I don't know if Hak will win it, he probably won't, but if the above is all true on 4/10, he definitely needs to be in the conversation. - BiggE
Oh, I don't disagree with your points. I'm just boiling it down and think that's why he won't get it. |
