So what's everyone's thoughts on Kane staying healthy?

Won't happen

The 20 goal Evander Kane is better
Because the 25 goal Kane doesn't exist yet

Were not talking about a couple games here and there

Over the past 3 years Kane has missed 90 games

And like you keep saying, what's important is whether he's healthy for the playoffs, which I 100% agree. However do you trust that will be the case?

- sbroads24

I think this team get to the playoffs he's playing. If we were about to get into the playoffs this year he might take this time off but he'd play in the playoffs.

I'm not too worried about Kane. He did what I expected and built chemistry Eichel and ROR. If he comes back and can pick that back up, play 65-70 games next year, and be healthy by come April then he's exactly what I want on my team.

I like what I've seen this season. I'm already excited for next year.

i'm with ya on that...

side note--hockey's future has buffalo's top center prospect as...

connor hurley

- Michael Pachla

I really disliked the pick when we made it
But I've seen him 5/6 times this year, and he's been pretty good
I heard Kris Baker the other day saying that Malone is actually one of our best overall prospects, he just can't stay healthy

Backes 5 yrs ago sure.

Now no way 6 mil

- dadeadhead

Agreed
And at his age, Backes is a guy who could start to break down bc of his style of play
No interest unless it's a 3 year deal
Otherwise, he's just too old

So what's everyone's thoughts on Kane staying healthy?
- jochfr

9 players on this team (90,28,9,44,47,46,3,25,63) have missed more than 10 games this year so far. In that order. So, Kane is just as likely to get hurt as any of those guys, imo. So if I'm saying this about Kane I'm saying the same about O'Reilly. That's me.

Must be a slow day. I couldn't honestly give less poops about the award at all. It's nothing to me. And if it's nothing to me, as a hockey fan, it's less than that to most of the world.

Writers are going to complain about everything. Always. Who really cares.

Who's captained a team that's know for poor showing come playoff time.

Always loved the player but 6 mil for a 32 yr old isn't smart business.

- dadeadhead

i hear ya, dd...but for the sake of argument, ryan o'reilly signed for $7.5m...he's a leader, a strong two-way player and has not made it past the first round of the playoffs in two tries...his career ppg is .61

backes career ppg is .63...

I see what you're saying, but it doesn't matter imo. If a guy gives me 20 in 65 or 20 in 20 sure one of them is obviously better than the other. But if, for example, one guy is only going to play 20 games a year and is amazing for those 20 games it hurts his value. 20 goals is 20 goals. But I wouldn't pay the 20 in 20 guy that much more than the 20 in 65 because the team doesn't get that much better with one over the other.

Just my opinion.

- Zschalberg

Who would u rather have in the playoffs?
I'd prefer the guy who's better
And it's obvious who that guy is

Age, though. I'd take Backes for 5M for 4 but no longer. Only reason is that I can do something with Moulson to get back some of that money if it doesn't work out

Track(suit) record means little to me. You can be perfectly healthy for years and then get a concussion and then break your leg the next day. Injuries happen to everyone. Some players play a more high risk game, sure. But it takes one mistake to get injured and it happens to a lot of guys.

Obviously I can't prove he will be healthy for the playoffs

I think u can assume that most guys who play with that style will miss games
So I look to see just how productive they are when they do play
And you've just gotta accept that physical, power forward type players will get banged up at times

He's not right either. Who cares? Did he win the award? Did he kill the guy who did? This is such a non-issue and it's an non-issue that was forced on by people like him so that they click on their stories. The Sabres nominated a guy for an award. So what?

Just blows my mind that anyone wastes time to care about this and for people to be legitimately angry about it, just wow.
