The only point I've ever tried to get through to you people is that granlunds will be an nhler, he's great defensively, but Canucks have enough of those guys, they need scoring wingers and Sinkaurak was the best one they had. But they said they didn't know if he could translate that to the nhl but never even gave the kid a chance. In his 3 games he's played hard, getting into the dirty areas. Even without getting his 2 points his call up has been pretty successful. If he continues to play this way which he has his whole career his going to be a very good nhler. And van didn't even want to give him a chance in a losing season? Just a bad choice. If he played 10 games for the Canucks and looked horrible then made the trade it would make more sense but no chance at all? Bad choice. If you guys can't see that then it's hard not to judge your hockey IQ. - Bigalow
He was the best we had?
We have half a team of young forwards ahead of him. You are basing this on AHL numbers? Well both Granlund and Vey had better AHL numbers. They havent exactly looked like stars have they? Based on your logic then,,, we have hit it huge with Granlund if Shinks numbers are worth cartwheeling over.
Dream on buddy. Your argument about Shink lost a long time ago... you really only have a 3 game sample.... and I cant count how many times a young players has had production in his first few games but then slowly slide off the radar. Shink was exactly like that in the AHL... I have a feeling it will be like that for him in the NHL. |

Totally agree ...I mean if you trade away Cam Neely or Brett Hull then you lost the trade ...but those are the exceptions - Redmile247
there is risk in every trade. and there are endless variables.
thinking back to when Dallas traded Neal to the Pens for Goligoski, I thought the Pens won that trade. I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there who think Dallas won the trade because that was the only way they were going to be able to acquire a dman like Goligoski.
With Shinkaruk and Granlund, I think the Canucks looked at Shinkaruk and thought he didn't have a future with the organization and wanted another centre because of all the injuries...
Neely and Hull are like home runs, would more than likely have turned out to be great players on any team
at least we haven't heard anyone call Shinkaruk the next Hull or Neely |

A full Season and the kid would most likely have more points then virtanen and McCann. They're point totals this year is a joke for how highly you people rate them |

Your right I don't but even without shink in the convo they haven't had successful seasons virtanen has shown he can throw the body but he's also suppose to get points and he's can barely do that McCann same thing just without throwing his body |

A second that was traded for Hamilton.

Except the 53rd overall pick given from Vancouver was used by Calgary to select Andersson.
So to summarize, Sven+Granlund for Shink and Andersson is the final deal. Good deal |

And were just saying, obviously JB didn't like something about him and didn't think he would work. You claim after 3 games he's going to be a pro, but the guy who has watched players for a living for the last 20 years (JB) thinks not. I think I'll go with JB on this one, but only time will tell. |

I agree ...much like Sven in cgy shink just didn't fit in really ...wouldn't surprise me if they end up with very similar careers
To be honest I never thought much of granlund ...he was so far down the center depth chart he wasn't given a decent shot ...I think he has looked good in van but I don't think anyone even knows he is gone in cgy ...he's just another guy
I think one of the best trades to work out for both was the nieuwwndyk iggy deal ...Dallas gets cup and flames get a premiere power forward

Based on what? Shinks 3 game start? Jared Mccann(2 years younger) was on fire at the beginning of the season and was looking like a Calder hopeful but we reigned in those expectation. Why cant a realistic jesus like you be mature like that?

Yup, he has good Jr numbers and decent scouting report. From Vancouver's perspective and given their prospect pool, this was a good deal for them. Getting 2 NHL players under 25 to bridge the poor years of drafting, Calgary can afford to be a bit more patient and take the risk on the unknown |

Baertschi had 3 goals in his late season 5 game call up with the Flames in his rookie season.
Yup, gonna be nothing but smooth sailing for shinkaruk from here on out. |

When a 19 year old kid steps into the line up and is your hottest player for 5 weeks... it would be very easy to get on that wagon... but we didnt. Thats my point.
You are planning a calder parade route for a 22 year old who is going to win it in only the last 10 games of the season somehow. I'll be looking for the guy alone in the orange tassels cartwheeling down the cow path you guys call a street so I can say I was wrong.

Especially if Hartley continues to be coach...definitely Shinkaruk is penciled in top 6 |
