The only point I've ever tried to get through to you people is that granlunds will be an nhler, he's great defensively, but Canucks have enough of those guys, they need scoring wingers and Sinkaurak was the best one they had. But they said they didn't know if he could translate that to the nhl but never even gave the kid a chance. In his 3 games he's played hard, getting into the dirty areas. Even without getting his 2 points his call up has been pretty successful. If he continues to play this way which he has his whole career his going to be a very good nhler. And van didn't even want to give him a chance in a losing season? Just a bad choice. If he played 10 games for the Canucks and looked horrible then made the trade it would make more sense but no chance at all? Bad choice. If you guys can't see that then it's hard not to judge your hockey IQ.

I agree ...much like Sven in cgy shink just didn't fit in really ...wouldn't surprise me if they end up with very similar careers

To be honest I never thought much of granlund ...he was so far down the center depth chart he wasn't given a decent shot ...I think he has looked good in van but I don't think anyone even knows he is gone in cgy ...he's just another guy

I think one of the best trades to work out for both was the nieuwwndyk iggy deal ...Dallas gets cup and flames get a premiere power forward

I was a little disappointed to see Shinkaruk go, but beyond a little disappointment, I can't see the need for a Flames poster to come here and gloat (not you obviously), Shinkaruk hasn't done anything yet.

I am not sure if Canuck posters are going to the Flames board to gloat over Baertschi, hope not. I didn't think it was appropriate for that Bingo guy to show up here and go off on how bad he thought Sutter was, and still can't see what he was talking about. If a poster thinks their team won a trade I am not sure why the need to explain it to the other team unless they have some sort of confidence issues?

Half the challenge, I think anyway, with younger players is how to play with NHL players, especially for centres. I think growing up, guys like Granlud were the go to guys on their teams and now they are the ordinary guys in an NHL lineup and have to do more with less opportunity.

Yup, he has good Jr numbers and decent scouting report. From Vancouver's perspective and given their prospect pool, this was a good deal for them. Getting 2 NHL players under 25 to bridge the poor years of drafting, Calgary can afford to be a bit more patient and take the risk on the unknown

This is starting to sound like the argument of Kassian and Coho. In the end neither mattered. One is a cokehead and on his 4th team and the other is waived by 2 teams already and is not out of the league.
My point who cares right now. This is too small a sample size for either team. Wait for 5 years and then compare.
Also Canucks management knew that Shink was going nowhere with Canucks, so they turned an asset of no value to 1 with potential value. If it works then home run, if it does not then it is same and having Shink washed out of the system.
