OFF TOPIC POST WARNING: speaking of aquaman.. I went and saw the new Batman VS Superman movie last night. Definitely do not let the reviews factor into you seeing this movie. This was not even half as bad as what people online are seeing. I would definitely encourage everyone see it in theaters, lots of good action!

Back to Canucks and tanking. Once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, its hard not to want the worst for the team as the remaining games tick away BASED on the fact that the top teams have all garnered top 3 franchise changing players. It's easy for you to be all high and mighty and say "tanking is for losers, look at the leafs, flames, oilers" but all of those will eventually get steam and start rolling.

CHI got Toews and Kane
LA got Doughty
Pens got Malkin + Crosby + Fleury (yah I know I know)

I am not saying you can't have a winning franchise without a top 5 pick, but I am saying it definitely doesn't hurt to have one. Don't get down on people for wanting what other teams with success have.

I dont quite think the rebuild will be as long as most think, got the money to sign some free agents, Hutton and Tryamkin are looking promising. Markstrom is basically an anti tank so if he had more games it would help, Sutter playing more then 1/4 of the year. And not to forget the top prospect that well draft (for future years)

Of all the prospects I'm excited about Hutton the most. Really young Dman playing big minutes as a prospect and showing a lot of patience with the puck and in his play and great skating skills. Bit of a creampuff but he does have a tall frame so hopefully he fills out and gets more agressive with age.

Saying that, no game changes in the current prospect pool (IMO) so a few high draft picks increases the possiblity of finding one.

Respectfully, I disagree with you on LA and Pitts. Crosby was the result of a league wide lottery, Fleury is nothing but an above average goalie who plays for a team that can outscore his mistakes. Only Malkin fits the bill.

Although Doughty is a key elemenet to LA, they built up such a huge top 6 through trades... mostly with a charitable Philadelphia.

No --- I think under the (Cap) new rules, the current "Have" teams will always have an advantage as they can pick off disgruntled players from teams trading from weakness ---- Kesler (ASS) for example and UFAs fill flock to them.

"Have Not Teams" will struggle to get out of the bottom 20 or take a decade to do so and multiple coaches.... where middle of the road teams will always be out in the first round.

The one league wide rule I wish would be changed is remove the no trade/no movement clauses from everyone.

I don't think you can deny though the quality of the player chosen in the top 3 that have changed those franchises.

Toews, Kane, Doughty, Malkin, Ovechkin, Stamkos. They are all franchise players. LA did a great job trading for Carter, 100%. All I am saying to the people who are getting down on people who want a tank and a top 3 pick, they don't want to see the team in the state they are in, they just want what those other franchises have. The Sedins are a direct result of what top 3 picks get you.. Franchise players.
