Yak just is a bust, wouldnt say poor draft year though, Murray, Galchenyuk, Trouba, Lindholm, Reilly, Forsberg, and in the third round ghost. For a team that needed defence they just made a bad call - phyllee
By poor i mean it was not considered a deep draft that year or now.
It does reflect that D does take more time to develop & some good D were available but that usually is always the case too.
That said too bad we drafted Shink 24 when Lindholm was 26.
1 D could make our situation now so much different. |

Etem seems lazy. I think he has poor work ethic. It would translate to why a kid with talent like that would move around so much. - thundachunk
Etem has shown up at camp a couple of times overweight I think I remember hearing.
Etem is not afraid to go to the net hard and I admire that but I hate the path he takes to get there. He reminds me of Raymond in how he always tries to squeeze past the D on the boards and almost always ends up too deep with no one to pass to. He has enough size and speed to stay off the boards but it's his go to move it appears. Maybe slow it down even so he has more options. Looks like a career long habit much like Raymond though.
Another observation I made is he is really inefficient as a skater. He has speed, don't get me wrong but he is dying out there by the end of his shift. I think it's because of his sloppy skating as he accelerates to his top speed. He burns off his fuel in 20 strides...
I think he is a decent fit for our bottom 6 right now. I dont see him as top 6 at all. Short gritty shifts and net presence. He cant run with the hounds and produce though. |

Yeah I wasnt saying you had, but there has been quite a bit of criticism given towards Etem that, with some puck luck, might actually have good numbers so far. I am hoping this is a similar situation to Sven, where people will be critical of Etem and pucks just eventually start going in. Something hasnt clicked yet, but hopefully a fresh offseason will get him going for next year. I only pointed it out because I'm puzzled at the number of comments which lump him in with Vey as "I dont care what happens to him", and have him missing from roster projections for next season, the kid is only 23 - WhiteLie
I'm with you, for sure. Anyone that young with upside is what we want, develop talent and assets. I think they have upgraded the bottom 6 a bit, baby steps! |

Playing the what if game is easy but just an observation about JB stating we have not drafted D in the 1st round in 10yrs & we had 2 1sts that draft. I guess that sums up more of MG's legacy bere as well. Other than Bourdon's tragedy we have suffered a lot not mining out good D.
Edit: wring draft year & it was Theodore not Lindholm.
My apologies๐๐ |

Going off on a tangent...
I played competitve Mixed-Orthodox fastball & we won B2B Provincials.
Funny thing is my buddy looked into the name & what he found was that Jewish ppl wanted a league of their own & somehow the name was borrowed & hence the type of league & pitching style was born here. There was no correlation to religion whatsoever either. - Nighthawk

@Boonerbuck
FYI We were later on TSN nationally after Pratt saw our pitcher Harry Lavalee pitching for us when 69yrs old. Michael Landsberg & Pratt did a personal story on Harry who was Meti & an elder who worked 12hr days for his ppl. Harry led us to 2 Provincial championship wins with our 2nd pitcher was Bobby Bear (Cree) who was 56yrs old.
Playing with those 2 fantastic ppl was the best times of my sporting life. They were the 2 best pitchers in the game when playing with & against younger gens. I was humbled & honoured to have had the opportunity to have met them both & play with them. I was 35yrs old then & a good pitcher in my own right but loved it being pushed outta the way for them both. |

Before my days playing with Harry & Bobby i had the good fortune to meet Ali who trained in my gym for the Chuvalo fight & later on my bud & I worked the '72 Canada/Russia game here in Vancouver. At the time those both were amazing experiences but actually being involved with those 2 Gents on the field was a lifetime experience i cherish most. |

Hopefully the Sharks don't treat tonight's game as a tune-up for the playoffs, or they'll lose for sure. |

Tanking and the rebuild.
I side with Booner. It began two years ago with Bo then JV Hutton Markstrom Baertschi Tryamkin and maybe JM
This year we wii add a top 5.
Other ways to complete the rebuild , promotion like Gaunce.
Trade. I expect one significant one but not huge
UFA. I do expect them to replace Burrows and Hamhuis.
