He's following the team, day by day. But it would be nice for sure if he was able to be in Philly more. - bmeltzer
It would be better if he could see his team hoist the cup this year. |

He's been a big part of it, but he's not the only reason.
Fantastic goaltending from both guys, not just one. Last season, if Mason didn't play the Flyers almost had to score at least 3 or 4 goals to win.
200 foot play is night and day. The Flyers are a better transition team, have eliminate the gap control issues that plagued them for all of Berube's tenure & the last year of Laviolette's term. Puck support, backchecking and NZ play are far better now than they have been in years.
The emergence of both Brayden Schenn & Sean Couturier. Couturier has been productive and continues to be an excellent defensive shut down guy. Schenn has finally seemed to put it all together. He's consistently producing, but even in games where he doesn't score, he's a presence and making things happen. That's why the production has been there.
Giroux has done a fantastic job as captain. He still produces at an elite level, but his all around game and clutch play have been huge for the Flyers. He's led by example, he's led with his words and he's got a team that is working and pulling together.
Hakstol has handled his roster almost perfectly. Even things he's done that many disagreed with have worked out beautifully. They shouldn't have been a playoff team this year or last year. But they're getting it done and it's a team effort.

The Norris Trophy nominees of 2010
Duncan Keith, Drew Droughty and Mike Green.
It still burns me to this day that Chris Pronger wasn't at least nominated Mike Green. |

Voracek and Mason probably had career seasons last year. Every game we've won this season in dramatic fashion since the All Star Game, Ghost was one of, if not the guy leading the charge along with Giroux.
Sean Couturier has taken steps offensively. He's taking some but not all of the charge in play in the offensive zone. With this said, for the most part as a shutdown guy, he's the same player he's always has been. Brayden is the real surprise who I've supported all along but still hasn't had the same impact nightly as Ghost.
I don't think Hakstol has handled his personnel perfectly. Two words, Brandon Manning. I feel we lost in tragic fashion due to his mismanagement against the Jackets in a time of need. |

Everyone knows I love Brayden Schenn but Ghost has been a difference maker for our playoff hopes since he's got here. |

Wings have been tanking lately. Blues tied it up. Boston lost another Dman. They're in real trouble.
As I was typing Bruins go up 3-2. |

Hate having to stick up for Hakstol when stats and eye test show that he's done a great job with his options, but would like to know who could of filled in for Manning obviously Hakstol doesn't have confidence in Medvedov or he'd be playing. And you keep suggesting Morin which shows me your hockey IQ , Morin is having a hard time in the AHL . Guess that's why Hak is the coach , I believe Morin will be there he's just not ready yet. In the meantime enjoy the ride.

bill, great piece today on snider. despite the lack of a championship in 40 years, it's certainly not for a lack of effort, commitment and running the organization poorly.
i am grateful for ed snider and all that he's created and done to serve the game. i pray the team wins a cup before he passes on. |

the NHL leadership is an absolute (frank)ing disgrace. "6" (read: 1) games for an intentional stick slash to the face by a repeat offender. i knew it would happen, but i'm discovering myself furious over the actual decision.
(frank) you, bettman, and all of your (frank)ing goons. |
