I think they are 2 guys who(will) price themselves out of their situation. Ennis 4m as a 3rd liner case in point - hubie
That's today's NHL.
It's the middle range guys who deserve more than 1.5 or 2 Mill, but who don't produce 25 points for sure, who have to struggle to find a place |

Maybe, but I just think too much was asked of him the past few years, he was expected to be the puck carrying star center for us, and he's not. Now, we have guys who can do that, and Ennis can be left alone to find open ice. If he can work his way back into a system style of play instead of being "the man" than I think will see one heck of a bounce back from him. If healthy, I'd bet Ennis can pot 25+ next season on the wing. It's a nice problem to have, and as much as people like to dangle him as trade bait, unless it's one helluva return I'd hold on to him at least until the next deadline. No point is selling talent players at their low point. - sskkoo1
I agree with this for sure and certainly hope he has a spot on this team next year .. he's gonna have to produce though. We have enough already that do not. |

Darcy Regier was the best GM in Sabres history. His record of drafting and trades was exemplary. Ron Rolston never got a chance to be a true NHL coach. I think he had the internal makeup and zipper quality to be the next Scotty Bowman or Al Arbour.

What if the Ennius toilet head bump story means that he likes the nose candy off of the back of the toilet. Likes to take "bumps" from the porcelain if you get my drift?
Anyone ever thought of that?
I have no proof but I have been reading bob probert's autobiography lately. |

Ennis averaged .60 ppg playing with nobody over the past three seasons. If he can get back to being healthy I think he can actually reach Hall's .85 ppg potential now that he'll be on a wing with guys like RoR, Eichel, Reinhart etc... - sskkoo1
Tyler Ennis is nowhere near a 70 point player which is what a .85 ppg player is. His career high is freaking 49 points.
He's the type of player that thrives without having a system and basically playing pond hockey. He is the last person I want near Eichel and Reinhart.
Eichel and Reinharts LWer is not on this roster unless Bylsma puts Kane with them next year but that still leaves holes in the top 6. |

It says something about the quality and quantity of our upgrades - and about today's NHL - that two guys who were the team's best producers last year are getting squeezed out. They're both probably too good to be low paid bottom six guys, but not enough of a "sure thing" to be part of what we expect the core will look like by opening day next year.
So perfectly respectable even talented NHLers get sent packing. - Der Kaiser
Hodgson was worse. His skating and inability to play defense made whatever he did offensively moot. Ennis will have the same problem. I thought he was much better at center than at wing, but theres no room at center. I hoped he would produce with real players around him but it hasnt panned out. I have a tough time seeing either on a playoff teams top 6, but neither are bottom 6 players. Be interesting to see how this plays out, ennis at 4.6 with concussion problems isnt much more appealing than moulson. I assume murray will try to move him, but its gonna be tough.

Keep your head up? Where's he supposed to go? How could he have possibly avoided or at least minimized the huge force he was about to take from a skater that had him lined up 4 seconds before that going 20 miles an hour? And he's gotta worry about Johansson, who's right over his shoulder, taking the puck from him. That's the type of predatory hit they're supposed to be trying to take out of the game. We were all pissed about the Gudas hit on Catenacci, and wanted to throw the book at a dirty player because Catenacci was already engaged with another player fighting for the puck. He's not eligible to be checked at that point. But at least Gudas got the 5 minute major for charging, Wilson escaped without even a minor.
Charge much? Holy hell! He took 8 strides before he hit him. Came from the blue-line in. Launched into Zadorov, maybe didn't come off the ice until after(which is irrelevant as it pertains to the rule in this case), but still launched into him. That's one of the worst charges I've ever seen. In my eyes it's a match penalty plain and simple. Taking that much of a run at a guy the only thing you're thinking is "I wonder if I can literally put him into the 3rd row?". Yet not even a minor.
42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player
who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice. - NHL Rule Book
Hey but guys, they're(the NHL) totally taking head injuries seriously. Just ask Duncan Keith and that massive suspe... Wait, what's that? He only got 6 games? Are you (frank)ing kidding? Oh, well, he's only a repeat offender with a history of this exact thing, but yeah 5 regular season games and a playoff game. I'm sure he's learned his lesson this time!!

No question clean hit but I agree with another who said where exactly is Zadorov supposed to go in that situation? What is he supposed to do? He's already engaged with another player from the Caps when Wilson lights him up.
On another note, if the NHL really wanted to send a league wide message on the Duncan Keith play, they wouldn't have given him any regular season games. Instead, they would've suspended him for the entire first round of the playoffs. |

Over react much? Clean hit all day. One of the worst charges your ever seen? Hahaha you're wrong. Shoulder to shoulder hit, didn't leave his feet and yes he was coming in from the blue line but he was forechecking. He also stopped taking strides at the bottom of the faceoff circle and hit Zadorov behind the net. That's not charging that's a clean hit. Not to mention Zadorov picked up the puck on the other side of the net and took two strides with his head down. Like I said pick your head up kid.

Zadorov wasn't already engaged with another Cap. He was trying to use his body to shield the puck. He 100% put himself in that situation. You can't expect to do that in the NHL and not get hit like that. |

Wilson definitely took full advantage of the situation in that he knew he was digging a grave for Big Z. At the same point, I hate that every time a big hit occurs people call for suspensions and yet it is the same folks that are upset by the big hit that complain about the sport turning into figure skating. Not saying I like seeing this type of hit, and I usually root against any former Sabre, but Stripes is right he takes multiple steps with his head in his boots. I've certainly been caught doing the same before, if you have played any level of hockey beyond Peewee, you have gotten caught too...doesn't mean the player hitting me was the one at fault. If Zads picks his head up a second sooner he takes a bump into the glass. |

This is what happens when you can't pick people any more. I don't mind not being able to hook people to slow them down but I hate that the league won't let a defensemen (or forward in this case) slow a guy down to keep someone from freight training his partner.
Keith should have got 10+ games for his stupidity, multiple repeat offender and he gets a rest plus a playoff game, just shows you how serious the league is about concussions. |
