If the 1st this year is moved, a winger is coming back as of now. Stamkos is the big fish for now. - SABRES 89
But they'd never move the say 7th overall pick for a pending UFA. It will be easier for them to find a top 6 forward without including that pick than it will be to find a top pairing d-man.

I didn't mean move the pick for Stamkos's right's, I meant move the pick for a player like Hall.

Im a little surprised Murray would be more interested in moving it for a winger than a d-man. Im sure hes well aware he needs both but it's going to be much tougher to land the d-man without using that pick.
I think it is a little early for the alcohol... better put that one done. - JVince11
I don't think he's wrong, though. You're looking at a top line winger. That doesn't move for pieces. It moves for other big pieces.
Look at it like this: Myers, Stafford, Armia, Lemieux, and a 1st got us a top 6 forward, a 3-4 defenseman, and a prospect goalie. We gave up a 3-4 defenseman with upside, a top 6 forward, a low ranked prospect, a higher ranked prospect, and a mid round first. The conversation doesn't work with a 4-6 defenseman and a bottom 6 forward.

If i'm not mistaken with this expansion draft coming up shouldn't we be careful how many players we add ? aren't we taking a chance of losing good players if you have to expose them ?

I mean yes I see your point.... I did say I'd "easily take this trade". I guess I didn't say Lets trade one of our best players for yours and hope for the best though...
It is no big deal to be an internet tough guy about.

A lot of factors play into that. If players like Reinhart and Eichel are indeed exempt from this then that opens up a few spots. you expose the secondary/tertiary guys instead.
