How would you grade Zemgus Girgensons season on a scale of D-F?

He has looked much better the past 4 games.

A lot of factors play into that. If players like Reinhart and Eichel are indeed exempt from this then that opens up a few spots. you expose the secondary/tertiary guys instead.

Guys, obviously last night was a good night for the Sabres... on paper. But I was looking at one deep stat that I found pretty disturbing - the Leafs totally outpaced us in LWDR (for those of you who don't follow stats, that's Losing With Dignity Rating).

Kadri alone had a +6 LWDR, no one wearing blue and gold could keep up. We're never going to win the media cup with this group, I give up.

I mean yes I see your point.... I did say I'd "easily take this trade". I guess I didn't say Lets trade one of our best players for yours and hope for the best though...

No I agree about that, but the original point I agree with. Hall is tied for 20th in points this year with JT, Kucherov, Stone, Getzlaf, Letang and Jagr. If we want him we'll need to pony up big time. I say we stick to what we're doing instead.

If we are out of the Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk, and Nylander part of the drfat then I am not as reluctant to trade it.

I don' tknow what that gets us for a DMan though. That seems like what would get us a 2nd pairing guy.

Agreed.

I guess I didn't agree that the asking price should be so high looking at his stats. 1 30 goal season, 1 80 points season. a bunch of 15-27 goal seasons... and misses close to 20 games on average per season.

I wasn't exactly thinking cream of the crop Tyler Seguin type return here.

nice work noticing Gionta...he's been playing real well and has been the driving force on that line, imo

To piggy back on this, this is Gionta's role. It's not as a 20 minute a night player in the top 6. I like hime on the third, I don't like him getting more minutes than Jack or Reino. That should never happen again.

Switch the first with the 3rd for the Dman. Take out the 2nd and put in Guhle.

Laine and Puljujarvi could be but being in Finland and their required military time thing... It could be tough to do. I am not sure of their contracts.

I've heard some say that they think Nylander could be better than his brothers and he could be a mid-season kind of guy.

That'd be better for me. Is he a true, top talent, no questions asked, #1 winger? Maybe not. But Crosby's linemates generally aren't either. Get me a guy that can put the puck in the net and can work with Jack/ROR that doesn't cost the farm and that's good enough for me.

next to no scoring


effort is nothing like what it was the first 2 seasons


seems out of place a lot, not working as hard in the corners


he stood out with effort like varada did during his first 2 seasons, blends with the ice more often then not this season


I had higher hopes for him this season


only thing I can think of is he is hurt

Free agent LB Bruce Carter is visiting the Bills on Friday.
Carter's free-agency tour rolls on in Buffalo after visiting the Jets on Wednesday and Lions on Thursday. The 28-year-old flopped in Tampa Bay last season, but the Bills have an extremely shallow linebackers unit.

If i'm not mistaken with this expansion draft coming up shouldn't we be careful how many players we add ? aren't we taking a chance of losing good players if you have to expose them ?
