Laine and Puljujarvi could be but being in Finland and their required military time thing... It could be tough to do. I am not sure of their contracts.

Pulujarvi got injured and hasn't looked like the same player since. IDK i think Mattews is the only lock to play next year at a high level. You may have some guys that surprise though like Larkin

Guys, obviously last night was a good night for the Sabres... on paper. But I was looking at one deep stat that I found pretty disturbing - the Leafs totally outpaced us in LWDR (for those of you who don't follow stats, that's Losing With Dignity Rating).

Kadri alone had a +6 LWDR, no one wearing blue and gold could keep up. We're never going to win the media cup with this group, I give up.

I don't think he is. I like Zemgus, I've defended him multiple times as a 3rd line C. But he needs to pull it together real quick. If him an Moulson somehow put it all back together next season, imagine what the team could do.

Edmonton is 26 in GA, 26 in GF (Buffalo is 27th), 23rd in SF (Buffalo 17), 26th in SA (Buffalo 23).

They have better players, a generational talent, a new coach, a new GM, are not better than us. They cry injuries, which is fine, Edmonton is 3rd in man game lost with 343 (Buffalo is 5th with 307 https://www.mangameslost....games-lost-march-26-2016/).

That team needs to do something and do it fast. Otherwise it's time to do another big overhaul.

EDM has done everything EXCEPT move players at this point. That is the next shoe to drop. If this isn't a testimony proving it's a player problem ..... I don't know if you'll ever see a better example of it. They have great talent ....... but it's just not meshing. Any other sport and they'd be winning plenty. In the NHL, they are proving it's not just talent ........... it's the RIGHT talent.

No I agree about that, but the original point I agree with. Hall is tied for 20th in points this year with JT, Kucherov, Stone, Getzlaf, Letang and Jagr. If we want him we'll need to pony up big time. I say we stick to what we're doing instead.

This also IMO proves just how tough it is to get it right in the NHL. I know the Sabres are on the way up but they still have a long way to go. What if another 15 years goes by and the 2006-2007 team is still the high water mark. Does that vindicate Darcy somehow?
