From last blog.....
the thing I took from the Murray Interview from yesterday was...
When asked about having the GM meetings on draft day morning he said he was against it because he "Plans on making a big trade"
Then he tried to back track a bit.
Now time to go read the blog. |

What if he already has a trade agreed upon but it is top 5 protected so by us winning it is solidifying the trade to actually happen now that we are out of the top 5 barring the lottery.

Carry over:
I love sitting Row 12 and seeing Eichel do his thing on the ice. There is some things you cant see watching on TV. The 2nd COR goal, Eichel wanted to set him up the first cycle and he was a little out of position. Jack fed it out to the point to start the rotation and literally told COR exactly where to stand as it came back around BOOM! Goal. I knew it was coming and got it recorded on my phone. His on ice leadership for a 19 year old kid is amazing, COR isn't an all-star but has been around a long time and for Jack to just command this team is amazing to see.
Plus i love hearing the TOR fans drool over him every time he touched the puck..
Oh and Kadri is such a Punk. Broke his stick on the ice, tried to a 2nd time and failed, yelled (frank) a few too many times and of course was diving all over. I wish Foligno wouldnt of beat him down but of course Kadri backed out. Man i hate him. |

Always one of my favorites, looking at the monthly stats.
We all know that we need a number 1 defenseman and probably another depth guy but let's give the credit where it's due, we're 16th in GA and 23rd in Shots against. Not great numbers, but for what we have it's not bad at all. Maybe it's the system, maybe it's the team, maybe it's the goalies. So imagine if we do get a top 2 guy. Our defense could start to be pretty good along with most of our top 6 (Jack, Sam, ROR, Kane) figured out.

I think Toronto got sick of us giving them points like in the last 2 games so they wanted to make sure we got all the points last night.
They looked BADDD.. |

If McCabe and Bogo can play like they have recently all year... and we add a top pairing potential guy at least...
?? - Risto
McCabe - Bogo
Pysyk - Nelson
That's a pretty damn solid group right there IMO. I really like Nelson's offensive prowess too that he can play some PP and move up the lines in situations. |

Question, how much of the 82-12-22 line's success is because of Gionta? Do we keep them together next year? He's averaged about 16 minutes/night in the last 5 games and has 6 points in his last 10 games, 9 in his last 15. For the year he's 10-20-30. Do we expect that next year too?
Can Girgensons slot in that 3rd line C spot and that line keep producing? I liked 28's game last night but obviously he hasn't done much throughout the year. |

Nelson has done better than I anticipated. He has a few defensive breakdowns but that's to be expected in the first few games in the NHL. That top defenseman would/will be great and it'll really help us moving forward. Maybe even moreso than a scoring winger. |

I think you add Ennis, Fasching, hopefully a Nylander/DuBois or OTHER and our top 6 gets rounded out rather nicely.
Or you add Chychrun/Juolevi to our D prospects and that rounds out rather nicely as well.
However... I think TM makes a big trade for defense and we end up filling out top 6 if needed elsewhere. |

Fasching I would say 3rd line to learn unless we're keeping 82-12-22 together in which case he goes to the 2nd line.
If you're not keeping that line together I'm good with putting Foligno there as long as he keeps playing the the power forward he's looked like since joining Larsson. He's used his body, been strong on the puck, gone into the dirty areas, and realized he's bigger than a lot of the players he's facing. But it can't regress again.
Trade for Lindholm, Fasching 2nd line, FA for the other top 6 spot. McGinn/Backes/Eicksonn typle player. |

Why do we think they'd move Lindholm first??? I don't think they move him... Fowler more likely... Lindholm has a higher upside and more years of cheaper control.
