The tankers here are too much.

First they say we're going to suck for awhile, just get used to it.
Time to sell high on assets like Hansen.

Then when we suck for 9 games (with Hansen out for most), Hansen comes back and adds a spark and everyone wants to keep him!

- dbot

yes its bandwagon fans that dont have any solid grasp of knowledge of hockey.

So I'm guessing you don't believe in the mass swallow sheeple effect...it's well documented here...and dbot nailed it, this group is pretty fickle here...
- Makita

I do go on about the sheeple following the media actually but I'm specifically talking about his original comment about the group in here. Tankers for example. Of all the people cheering for losses... when they discuss it, they all don't follow dbots single mind theory.

There are some that say trade Hansen and some that say not. This team didnt need to go that far to tank.

He's the only guy out of the old guard that may actually make it through the rebuild and be an effective player still (in three years +). I still think we should trade him while his value is high, but it's got to be the right deal (ie defense or 1st rounder) to make it happen. Last summer I thought Vrbata should be traded caus ehis value was so high, I just think that's sometimes the saavy time to trade if you know your team is not a contender for a few years.
- neem55

it appears the only people that feel vrbattas value was that high is us van fans. 29 GMs disagree and made no offers.
If we always traded a player when their value is high we'd have no good players here. I never liked that idea.

Just thought I'd give credit where credit is due: Dragon has been preaching how Tree going to be an impact guy for us, and was met with mixed reactions (my own was doubt, for sure). Looks like you were right, he's pretty awesome. Him dropping Kesler last night might have been my favorite Canuck play of the year. I hope he continues to gain confidence. Also, seems like Hammer has been in his ear and it seems to be working. I'm warming up to him around for another couple years at hopefully a reduced salary, he may be the best guy to mentor over Edler/Tanev(even if he has lost a step).
- neem55

why thank you neem! Yes Ive been talking about him here for 2 years.
This time next year I think he will be a force. 1 more year and the monster will emerge. I think we are talking franchise D man, the elite type. But his offense will take time. Once hes fully learned nhl D itll come.

Thanks you pointing out the credit.

I meant at he end of last season, after he had a career year (as Hansen has had this year) his value was sky high

I've been thinking about how negative this board has gotten(myself included), and decided to go out of my way to put more into generating positives notes. Credit was due! I'm not sure what we have here, but he skates and competes at a level I'm pretty impressed with so far. Time will tell.

didnt really direct it at you, just more of a overall sitewide thing.

if he continued trading everyone at highest value itd a revolving door and no talent at its peak ever.

So essentially some posters want to draft a guy, take years to develop him then as soon as he's turned into something you dump him and repeat process. Not productive method at all

good going. Ya we should make effort to change things here. Good on ya.

Some people here must be a miserable mess in their lives if their posts are an indication.

Totally agree. But if we really are in rebuild mode, we've got to look at all of our best trade options IMO. But it's not something we should do year after year, and not with all of our players.

I'm indifferent on trading Hansen but if there is anyone that has value to other teams going forward, it's him. If we aren't going to be competitive for 3 to 7 years, depending on who you ask, why keep him around? That being said, it has to be something worthy of the discussion. We don't need to trade him by any means. His age is good, his contract is cheap for the work ethic he brings, and he had a stellar year on a poopty team. Again, I'm indifferent, but the time is right if the deal is.

Reread what he was saying. Vrbatas value was high LAST offseason. Your reply would be relevan to this year in which he was not referring.

If ya know the team isn't going to be competitive even 2 years, for a player like him who is playing his best hockey. It would be a good idea to sell high. Otherwise you take the risk of another vrbata and loose him for nothing.
Even worse you could have a Higgins.

Tyson Jost and Dante Fabbro are probably over ranked to be picked within the top 20 of the NHL draft. It's hard to judge how they will turn out playing in the BCHL. Jamie Benn turned out better then Kyle Turris even though Kyle doubled the amount of points that Jamie did. Beau Bennett drafted 20th has never really emerged into a first round player for Pittsburgh even though he had a Turris type of season in his draft year.

Ryan Wilson has a solid article that outlines the goalchie ranks. Miller isn't nearly as bad as people here make him out to be and he shows better than both Luongo and Schneider...

I believe the human tree will be a top four and maybe eventually a top two if he's confident enough and plays as well as Charat did at his peak.

I get both sides (tankers verses non). I would however love to end up with a top 3 pick this year. Like it or not it would make it easier for the team to sell their brand and give the city something we haven't had in decades.

Canuck fans get called Bandwagon fans a lot. You hear an idiot on the radio or anywhere ranting about bandwagon fans and I want to ask them where did they get their membership to the regular fan club? Who certified them as a true fan?

We have stunk this year yet everyone is still here (. Mostly)

The team has changed their look a few times this year with injuries and player additions.

Bo and Sven are beauties. Tryamkin an Hutton look to be the new generation. Canucks will be back next year and be in the playoffs . Unlike other years the do have some toughness now( not a lot but some).

Even if their not, as long as you can see an improvement over this season.

We need a few high end players. I don't mind the one year brain fart at all.

(nobody is against a top 3 pick, I think this is unanimous)

I am against throwing games, anyone who is playing should be trying but I am not against experimenting with different players and giving prospects a chance to play.

Still not sure why Pedan wasn't played more the other night? I don't want to lose him on waivers next season and think he should be given a long look at both 4th line wing and bottom pairing dman to keep him on the roster or see him moved.

At trade deadline we were a few points away from a playoff spot with a injured , rookie saturated Canuck team.

We played most of the year with stars like Prust Higgins Vrbata Weber Bartowski and a disappointing Burrows . Our roster will be better next year
