Thats where I stayed, liked the neighbourhood and what they were trying to do. Just doesnt have the density and people living there to really make it work.
It will get there but still probably 5 years away until its a very vibrant area, just need the people to start intensifying it...streets are too quite and too car oriented when I was there. Cool area though - DDM-Coga
They are building everything in that spot... I think 2 or 3 years and it will be there.
When were you there? |

last spring. Stayed that condo development next to Rolf and Daughters (RAD?)
Good meal there, I fell in love with red shrimp and grits that night. Will say pregaming on a HNIC game on tootsie rooftop was quiet the time. |

We are working with RAD on a new restaurant. Nice guys.... Haven't had a meal there yet though. The place you're thinking about is Werthan Lofts. I almost bought one of the condos but they sell like hotcakes. |

yeah cool development, was too cold to use the pool and bbq area but whatever just more time on broadway.
Printers Alley was fun, had a blast at Tootsie. Some Blues bar, and Flying Saucer beer joint. Would come back in a heart beat for a trip |

Interesting article in the Buffalo News.
I completely understand the revenue sharing aspect. The fans that say "I don't understand why the Sabres need it" are way off base here.
However, having been to 10 other NHL arenas, they are right in saying when it comes to arena atmosphere, First Niagara Center is outright amateur hour. Hopefully, eventually winning games will help, but it's not everything. When you go to places like Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Detroit, you feel like you are at a big time event. That's not the case with the Sabres. The arena production (and MSG Buffalo's as well) feels like it's being run out of a makeshift studio out of somebody's basement. The Sabres need give its patrons way more bang for their buck, especially in lean times like this. The NHL outsourced its production to Major League Baseball, and the visuals on both the NHL Network and NHL.com has been night and day. I think it's time for the Sabres to go down a similar path. - buffalofan19
I haven't been to a game in about 5 years, but it was really bad. What happened to the little clips from Slap Shot and Caddyshack during the game? Little poop like that to get some life in the crowd was just gone.
I actually like the broadcast. Although it suffers a little not having someone next to RJ in the booth. I understand Dan has been calling games for the radio with Peters, but just put him(Dan) next to RJ to act as the color guy with Ray chipping in like he did when Harry Neale was still here. I miss Harry Neale and his slap shots from 37 feet. Nothing feels forced between them and the shots they take at each other seem good natured if a bit odd at times, but they seem to have a genuine chemistry. |

Germans almost always succeed.
Almost. - Der Kaiser
The only problem with that is the Germans weren't the Germans. Fun fact: at the end of WWII about half of the SS was composed of those dastardly Austrians... |

never see kids out playing, my kid for dam sure will be out playing. Kids in my neighborhood seem to play the lax - hubie
It's crazy. I lived on a street that was predominantly 6 unit apartment houses for a few years, so lots of people and lots of kids. Yet during the summer it was like a ghost town. Every once and a while you'd hear a kid or 2 running around yelling nonsense, but when I was a kid not that many years ago my street, with just single family houses was chock full of kids running around. Down at my end there was a higher concentration of boys and we mainly played hockey and football at the other end were mostly girls and they did whatever the hell it is young girls do. But the point is during the summer there were probably 15-20 kids on the street/in the yards at any one time between 10 am and 9 pm. And nary a parent to be seen, they were too busy with work, which you also won't see today for fear of arrest and having your kids taken away. |

Not really, Saddledome has never been really a rocking arena, very corporate.
Ive been to louder arenas and meaningless games compared to what playoff atmospher is like in the dome.
The city gets fun but the dome is meh - DDM-Coga
Really? It looks like it's really rocking in the playoffs. |

Do Austrians like to gamble? I've never heard that.
It was more of poking fun at Kaiser. |

They never should've made that sequel. Dumb and Dumber To. If it was within a few years of the original, ok, but it was just brutal I made it through about 25 minutes, and I just couldn't do it anymore. Shame, because Dumb and Dumber is one of my favorite movies. I almost named my cat Sea Bass, because when I got him he would attack his shadow constantly and I would say "kick his ass Sea Bass!", but I decided against it, because I didn't feel like explaining it every time. |

Has there been a worse opening day in any sport in north america than today's Padres game?
This is all sorts of sad. |

At least the Jays have pitching, I have to watch the Yankee pitchers not even make it out of the 5th inning, going to be a long year. |

I love hockey. It will always be my favorite. But, this is why there is no better sporting event than the NCAA Basketball Tournament. |
