The young talent coming up all over the league is going to be fun to watch for years..if the refs start calling all the subtle hooks, holds, interference and pick plays like they did coming out of the lockout. NHL zebras are calling the game more and more like they did before 2005. Want more scoring? Call that garbage more often and open the game up again. - EnzoD

Long-time lurker, first time poster. I wanted to chime in on the poor FNC atmosphere with an anecdote: I went to a game about a month ago with a couple of buddies who, admittedly, had a few drinks (i was DD'ing). We were talking about the game and one of my friends was using some salty language (sh*t, a couple f-bombs, no slurs) and a guy with his 12-year-old son in front of us kept turning around to chastise my buddy. Now, i get it that you don't want your son to use that language, but if you're so worried about it, talk to your kid about the game and keep him interested. They were just sitting there quietly the entire game and never participated in chants. The kid was looking around the arena and twirling around in his seat. It should never be quiet enough to where you can listen to the entirety of someone's conversation. One time, i started chanting along to let's go buff-a-lo chants and people below us were turning around surprised at the noise I think the arena has become like a living room where people want to passively watch the game instead of cheering. They need to make the arena less family oriented.
tl;dr: the arena is boring because excitement is discouraged by fellow patrons |

it's real simple, take 1 section up high and one section down low and have it a family fun zone
they do that down here for the jaguars, a non drinking section
I'll never sit there of course

Welcome buddy, I can argue both side of the fence. On one hand a person should be able to enjoy themselves without using profanity but on the other foot if they are the worried about it there is a family section. Had this issue the other day no sitter for the laugh game wife says he wont be going to a Leaf game for many years and the rivalry isnt what it used to be. I mean how many fights I saw in the late 80's early 90's. Personally I wouldnt want people swearing around my kid but sometimes it dose happen. Im not Johnny shouts a lot but i dont discourage those around me to do it.

the whole ac/dc thing, I heard angus wants to tour another 10 years
IMO if that is his desire, given nobody else is in the "band" he should go out on his own and play small venues instead of trying to reform a 3rd band
IMO ac/dc and van halen are the only 2 bands to make one switch successful , I don't count journey because the singer before perry wasn't around long

He would be an upgrade over that corpse Manning and an extra tall version of ryan mallett in osweiler. |

The raiders wished they moved to LA. I could play QB for the Broncos next year and they still win 11 games |

Name a great atmosphere of one of the non playoff teams. Seems every great atmosphere being mentioned are all playoff teams methinks there may be a trend - hubie
Out here in "Shark" country .. the team missed the playoffs last year and they immediately lost 20% of their season ticket fan base.
This season has been nothing short of a disaster attendance wise for them. The team can't win at home and the atmosphere is really down.
It can happen quick in the NHL. |

The Raiders will end up in LA actually ...... once the Chargers finalize their new San Diego stadium. |

Yeah, i totally get that. I guess my point is that we were talking at a conversational volume, so this guy wouldn't have heard any of this if he and his son were actively watching and talking about the game. I don't understand people paying to go to a game and treating it like a living-room experience. Also, the fact that people in my section were startled by me chanting along says a lot about the game experience. |

they dont have cap space, plus hes asking for 16m...yuck.
Kap is the cheaper option even though they have to give up draft picks for him.
Im not a broncos fan, just see enough of it in my twitter timeline with the Avs fan base |

The ONLY upgrade he brings is fresh legs and the ability to run like a deer when the plays break down. Other than that .............he can't read a defense or throw the ball. Enjoy that .......... |

The chanting thing is an interesting case. When you have an entire crowd doing it, it's awesome. When you have only a few people doing it, or even an entire section, while the rest of the arena has no interest in participating, it sounds strange, awkward, and even a little distracting. I get the enthusiasm, and people wanting to start something exciting, but at the same time, some people do need to get the clue that if you are going for even two minutes and not gaining any momentum, nobody's interested in your chant. You probably should stop. |
