Not good at all. I would play Mayfield over Strait against the Caps tonight. Hope Greiss is good tonight after playing last night.
- ses111

Mayfield played well against Washington in the playoffs last year, but I still don't really love his game. Not that Strait is an upgrade.

I still play Mayfield over Strait at this point. Put him with Hickey in controlled minutes.

I think he'll be back by the playoffs. Probably bad bruise.

I'm hoping so too. We knew de Haan wasn't traveling to WSH since last night, and the fact he tried to come back was telling it could not have been anything that drastic. Even though Hammer skated off on his own with his injury, he didn't try/Med staff didn't let him try to take another shift.

I agree. Gibson has a better chance at playing tonight.

I would like to see Mayfield tonight for his size and toughness against the caps but Strait the saavy vet needs his minutes. I think we see Gibson tonight actually

I can't see them playing Gibson. Too much on the line.

If he's still around when we play BUF they can give him his minutes then, but not against the Caps. The guy would get shelled.

It would not be totally crazy to see Gibson tonight especially the way Greiss is in the back and back and the last thing we need is Greiss breaking down before the playoffs. Mayfield did hold his own against the Caps last year.

If they play Gibson when they're 2pts away from clinching...

I don't have a good feeling about this game either way. If they come out with the energy they did last night I'll be impressed. Unfortunately I think we will see another 40 minute game tonight.

Greiss played last night and the Caps are a bunch of dirtbags. We have 4 games left to grab 2 pts, and even if we don't we still may make the PO's. Would you really roll the dice on injuring our current starting goalie when Berube may be out for a long time, which would leave us with our #4 for playoffs?

On paper, they shouldn't beat the Caps with a depleted defensive corps and a banged up team. If they play like they did last night, they might be able to squeeze two points out of them. Holtby is in net, looking to break Brodeur's record for most wins in a season.

BOS regulation loss puts us in the playoffs as well. They're at home against CAR.

edit: These are the three scenarios in which we can clinch tonight:

#Isles clinch playoff berth if they beat #Caps OR if they get a point at Washington and Bruins lose to Hurricanes OR Boston regulation loss.

Not good for DeHaan. Injury was kind of his fault. what was he thinking having his back to the shooter. Even I know not to do that.

Going to be tough tonight. Capitals on back to back. With effort we gave yesterday its quite possible.

I know we did not clinch yet, but I do not like playing Greiss in this game tonight after playing last night. I might role the dice and play Gibson.

I did not see the play when de Haan got hurt. Tonight is going to be tough after playing last night. I hope the Isles can bring the same energy. I would put Halmo in for Bailey tonight along with Mayfield for Strait.

Clinching is not what im concerned about. Its playing Caps in first round.
Win or Loss last year the 7 game series was grueling and we served a beat up Caps right on silver platter to Rangers.

You want the least physical matchup you can get. Florida, Tampa and Rangers offer the best match up. All of them are not Hitters.

I won't be too upset if they lose tonight as long as the effort is there. Playing back to back 60 minutes games will be a big step for this team.

obvious concern for dehaan...and clutterbuck....AND hamonic. injuries are piling up at the wrong time.

on the opposite side of things, i REALLY like frans with JT last night. they looked very good together.

I do see Gibson in tonight and STrait. i have this funny feeling the Islanders will scratch out a point or win. CApitals really have nothing to play for at this point and they dont want to risk injury

Happening to a lot of teams now. Just going to have to tough it out. Frans did look good with JT. He is a much better fit than Bailey or Strome. Strome looked better at center as well.

Pretty sure he was sideways since he got hit on the side of the knee
