right Cptmjl , lets not play the scary Panthers with jagr and all rookie forwards. Lets play Penguins who have been absolutely steamrolling everyone despite missing Malkin and Fluery.

Isles would beat Florida in series. We had one bad game vs them in Florida. Other than that we won and lost in shout in which halak failed to make any saves in 8 rounds. Even in the loss at home We completely dominated the play and they manage a few goal off bad turnovers.

Florida is over rated and Not a #2 seed. if isles win next few games we could have better record then them.

Not saying we cant beat them dont twist my post into whatever you want. Im saying if you think we've outplayed and especially out hit the Panthers youre (frank)ing nuts or you havent watched us play them. They physically out play us thats the issue we have with them.

as for bailey I call a spade a spade. I don't think he is a bad player. He actually has alots of skill and talent that we perhaps may never see b/c he lack Desire.

He should get benched after his efforts in last few games and in hopes that he wakes up. Strome answered the call last night. He gets going and we are on to something.

Not saying we cant beat them in the playoffs who knows wtf is going to happen but to say we out play them or out hit them when we play them is so beyond (frank)ing nuts I have to believe whoever says that hasn't watched an islander game in the last few seasons. Its right up there with someone telling me how great a player Bailey is

Not taking sides here but the regular season means absolutely nothing. Do you know how many times one team dominated the regular season and then lose to the same team they dominated in the playoffs.
I think the only thing that plays true going into the pO's is the momentum and your play going into the playoffs.

We had an embarrassingly bad game against them at the Barclays. I know this because I was in attendance.
- eichiefs9

which one? the 1st won when We had outshot them 10-1 in first period and had nothing to show for it? or the 2nd when we slept for 54 mins and woke up in last 6 mins of the game.

Put it this way, isles play like they did last night and would steamroll Florida and probably best anyone in East.
the problem is what islanders will show up next game.

He has played this same exact way for three seasons now. His recent play is no different than anything else we've seen. Why do you feel he needs to be benched now as opposed to when you were singing his praises?

It's not impossible for the Isles to beat the Panthers in a series. I worry about the Panthers size wearing down the Isles though during a 7 game series. I just do not like a match up with the Caps or Panthers. I would take my chances against the Pens no matter how hot they are now.

Also I might be inclined to sit Clutterbuck tonight and maybe insert Boulton. I know that might not make sense but with Wilson skating around out there taking cheap shots it might be a safe bet

And also I would have the fourth start every game. They seemed to get the team pumped on the very first shift last night

isles beat florida last game. As for watch them game. Im a season ticket holder and go to many of them. I don't look at the Box score and say wow, isles lost 5-1 to panthers.

Penguins and Caps are teams to beat. panthers will be out after first round regardless of who the face.

- Spartiarti

Thanks. I missed that game totally. How did we look against them? In the earlier two games I saw, the Panthers' size seemed to be a problem for the Isles. It reminded me a little of games against the Caps.

Like cpt, I am not predicting a loss against them. Just saying that a series against them will not be easy.

This is a little awkward but here we go

Game 1 Hits

Islanders 34 Panthers 24

Game 2 Hits

Islanders 23 Panthers 19

Game 3 Hits

Islanders 24 Panthers 19

Unrelated aside: Gudbranson just returned to FLA with a likely concussion. So that's a hit to their physical presence on D.

In defense of captain I really have no idea how they calculate hits. It seems so random.

Defense wins games. If the Islanders turn it up a notch against them we should be fine

Whatever way they calculate hits it doesn't favor the panthers which was kind of the point. They are a good team a fast team but I don't remember thinking we are getting crushed by them physically like we do against the caps. That's why I looked up the numbers

Kind of a skewed view of it. The amount of hits isn't necessarily what's important, but it's the quality of them.

If we outhit them 34-19 but their 19 hits separated an Islander from the puck every time and Matt Martin had 34 hits 50ft behind the play that did nothing...I would say that they "won" the physical battle.

Not saying that was the case (and that was a gross oversimplification to make a point) but just the totals doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. Like plus/minus.
