Kind of a skewed view of it. The amount of hits isn't necessarily what's important, but it's the quality of them.
If we outhit them 34-19 but their 19 hits separated an Islander from the puck every time and Matt Martin had 34 hits 50ft behind the play that did nothing...I would say that they "won" the physical battle.
Not saying that was the case (and that was a gross oversimplification to make a point) but just the totals doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. Like plus/minus. - eichiefs9
It tells enough to know that they weren't manhandled either and again that was the point. If a team is going to get bounced around physically its going to show up in every stat that takes that into consideration. Unless you are going to dissect every hit in the game you can't tell me which ones were effective and which aren't because you can easily say it the other way as well.

thanks Vukota. I cant believe im wasting this much time listening to this argument that Florida is some team to fear in first round when we got completely embarrassed by Pens 5-0 and they steamrolled flyers the following game.
If had to chose from all east in playoffs Florida is the easiest draw. maybe tampa now that Stamkos is missing.
Followed by Detroit, Flyers, Tie between Caps and Pens. Pens at least I know we have beat before.

right Cptmjl , lets not play the scary Panthers with jagr and all rookie forwards. Lets play Penguins who have been absolutely steamrolling everyone despite missing Malkin and Fluery.
Isles would beat Florida in series. We had one bad game vs them in Florida. Other than that we won and lost in shout in which halak failed to make any saves in 8 rounds. Even in the loss at home We completely dominated the play and they manage a few goal off bad turnovers.
Florida is over rated and Not a #2 seed. if isles win next few games we could have better record then them. - Spartiarti
i wouldnt say they are overrated but they are inexperienced (as are the isles) and banged up (as are the islanders) but i do agree, of the teams id like lightning, rangers, panthers......and the penguins in a distant 4th.
Long story just didnt think he was that good. Everyone made a huge thing about him how awesome he was best player in the league. I didn't see it. My sisters used to drool over him and tell me how hot he was. I was young at the time and then the three overtimes against Washington I had to stay up for. Couldnt stand him

I knew someone wouldn't throw this up and I figured it'd be you .
All I have to say is did you actually watch the games? I know you did do you think we out hit the Panthers or matched up to them physically? We've all sat here saying how the Panthers beat the poop out of us physically forever now lets not make pretend thats not reality.

Maybe the Panthers do not beat up the Isles like the Caps, but the Panthers are still a bad match up for the Isles in terms of size. No way around it.
Whatever way they calculate hits it doesn't favor the panthers which was kind of the point. They are a good team a fast team but I don't remember thinking we are getting crushed by them physically like we do against the caps. That's why I looked up the numbers - Vukota
Duchene on the tradeblock per Friedman for a Dman; is Denver closer to Winni and is he of desire around here? - Danformo
Pump the breaks a little...he is not "on the trade block".
This is what he said:
30 THOUGHTS
1. However annoyed Patrick Roy may have been with Matt Duchene (and however Duchene feels in return), this will not be a rush job if Colorado decides to make a move. The Avalanche made it clear when the forward’s name was bandied about earlier this season that Duchene was not going anywhere unless the return made sense. For the Avs, that’s probably a defenceman of some renown.
The Islanders would trade John Tavares if it "made sense" too. Doesn't mean he's on the block. It would start with Hamonic, but we'd have to add a lot more.

Well lets be honest here nobody beats up the Islanders like the Caps do
