I think the Flyers are spoilers for the 1st round. Could be the Panthers, could be the Caps. Mathematically it could be more, but I like the Flyers and Pens chances in the 1st round.

I agree. I'm actually pulling for the Flers this year. I'd like to see if the Pens can maintain composure over a 7 game series. It'd be a mental challenge for both teams.

1) can the Flyers get to the Pens without going over the line? (Simmonds, Gudas)
2) can the Pens keep playing and not do anything dumb? (I'm looking at you Geno & Letang)

Calm down there, I'm refering to physical playoff hockey that usually results in players playing through broken bones to get through four rounds to win the cup.

Man, I really with we had Simmonds when we play the Rags. I have a feeling the king would've lost it with that stick tap he gave Murray the other night.

Lundqvist would have thrown his net into outer space if Simmons tapped him like that.

"According to Sportsclubstats.com, the Flyers have a 78.7% chance of making the post season, the Bruins have a 62.2%, and the Red Wings have a 60.4% chance...so even though only 2 of these three teams CAN actually make it, they all have an over 50% chance?"

Stats are bull. At one point the Flyers had a 1% chance of making the playoffs in Feb I think it was....

interesting end to the season to see where teams slot in. Wondering if the Wings will finally miss a playoff berth??

Not sure if the Blues can make it through Chicago but if they do they have a great shot at The Cup. Cup is coming to the West again this year. Sorry Capitals, and surging Penguins. You are just not up for the challenge. Stars, Hawks, Blues, Kings, Ducks, Sharks, maybe even Nashville, will all take down the finalist from the East.

I know you'd like to think all of this, but I have bad news for you: Most of the playoff teams in the West have been playing severely mediocre hockey over the past month. I know people like to say that once the playoffs start it's a fresh start... it's not. If you're on a downward trend for whatever reasons, that doesn't mean it's all of a sudden going to change.

It's fairly simple: teams trending upward going into the playoffs go deeper and teams trending downward do worse.

The Blues and Stars have performed the best as of late, but that's not saying much. Goaltending will be both of their undoing.

Statistically speaking, the Caps, Pens and Kings are by far the most dominant teams in the league. I'm not saying I know for sure where the cup is going to wind up, but the numbers lean toward the East, not the West.

The Rangers, Bolts and Isles are dead ducks in the first round regardless of who they face. FLA is the dark-horse here, but my money is on either the Pens are Caps. The only team I believe in the west that poses any threat is LA; they're built for playoff hockey.

This is not a Pens/Flyers hate thing, but I just don't think Philly has a prayer against the Caps. Whenever a team is as dominant as the Caps are, it's always popular to say how they're primed for an upset.

Again, this isn't a Pens fan hating on the Flyers, it's just hockey talk: If the Flyers make the playoffs and face the Caps, I'll be surprised if the Flyers win more than one game in that series.

Holtby is very good. i just think the east can't score as well against the west. our defense is stronger. 1 of the top 4 is in the east. look at the goal differential. Blues Hawks sand Stars in the top 4

Your defense is very good, no doubt, and your offense is solid, but your goaltending is suspect.

The Caps are 16-7-3 against the west and the Pens are 14-11-3. LA and Dallas have been dominant against the East. The Blues are about equal with the Pens. Truthfully though, those records mean nothing to me because over half of it isn't relevant to how any of those teams are playing right now.

It's all about trends. East/West doesn't matter at the end of the day if you're simply playing bad hockey. CHI, NSH, SJ and LA have been trending downward. STL and DAL have been pretty consistent, but the goaltending isn't there. Goaltending has been your guys' undoing in the past. It's not like STL's defense is just now good; it's been really good for a while and goaltending failed.

LA to me is the only exception because of Quick. Goaltending can steal a series and he's shown that.

Now with Allen injured and Elliot put to the test i am sketchy but Elliot has played great at times this year. the difference this year is the Blues can actually score goals now. Something that they have missed. it has not been our goalie in the last 5 years, but our lack of offense. this is the most offensive Blues team in quite a bit. lets see how that turns into playoff perlformance. could lbe great, could be poop

1. Nope, Caps have been trending down.
2. Can your magic 8ball predict the next lottery numbers too?

Going to be sweet when someone knocks the Pens and their fans off their high horse.

I'm worried about Malkin coming back from injury and his Euro trash east west take 5 minutes to work the puck up the ice stopping the second line dead in its tracks. Kessel and Haglin are made to skate straight up the ice as fast as possible.

6 in a row and what is it, like 11 of the last 12 or 12 of the last 13? Pretty much all against playoff teams. I'd say we have a right to be happy and have some confidence.
