Obviously tomorrow night's game is huge. A win puts the Flyers so close, a lost puts the wings up 2 points (although Flyers have 2 more games), but the Flyers would fall 2 games vack in 1st tie breaker (ROW). So fun to still have meaningful games.

Tomorrow night's game is vital. They lose tomorrow, especially in regulation, they pretty much will need to beat Toronto, Pittsburgh and the Isles in regulation to make it.

Ideally, they beat the Red Wings & Maple Leafs, and then Detroit gets fired up and beats the Bruins.

Then the weekend games don't matter at all.

If they beat the Red Wings in regulation and leafs they're in The Wings/Bruins game won't matter.

Yes it will. They don't have tiebreakers vs either team right now, so if they are tied in points, they are out.

Their magic number to finish ahead of Boston is still 5 points. Beating Detroit and Toronto is only 4 points. If Boston beats Detroit and Ottawa, the Flyers still need another point in the games vs Pittsburgh or the Islanders

The magic number to finish ahead of Detroit is 7 points. If they beat Detroit and Toronto that number again is down to 1 point gained by the Flyers or lost by Detroit. If the Red Wings win out and the Flyers lose to Pittsburgh and the Isles, in regulation, the Flyers are out.

If Boston had lost tonight in regulation, the Flyers could clinch by defeating Detroit and Toronto with out any further implications.

But if the Red wings win out they have to beat the Bruins. The magic number is 5 vs Bruins. Flyers get 4 for beating wings and Leafs and one more for Bruins only getting 1 vs wings(max in a loss). I think I said that right?

I see what you did. You have Detroit winning over Boston in one scenario, knocking Flyers out. Then Bruins beating Detroit knocking out Flyers in the other scenario. Both can't happen. Either Boston or Wings win and go from there.

Oh crap, you're right...my math was off because I fudged the numbers with the Detroit Boston head to head.

If the Flyers win both games in regulation, they'd be at 95. The best Detroit could do at that point is 95. But if they beat the Bruins, the best the Bruins can do is 94.

When I was doing the math I forgot the implications of a head to head.

They need to beat Detroit in regulation & then beat Toronto in any manner, tho.

No worries. It's just nice to have skin in the game at this point.

Game gave me a serious headache. One point is huge at this time. Still nice to control your own destiny so late. No excuses at this point. Kids have gotten a taste of the chase which is very important as well.

It's frustrating for sure, but as Steven Tyler sang, you've got to lose to know how to win

Huge game. I hope they come out strong as they've been off for a couple of days. I think we can certainly get 5 of the remaining 8 pts and get in here.

Although I want us to end the season strong and grab the playoff spot, what I don't think some are considering is how bad Boston has been of late. Of course you can't count on that, but I really could see them losing both of their final games in regulation. They've lost 8 of 10, and more recently they almost blew a 5-1 lead to St Louis, got down 6-0 to the Hawks before mounting a comeback, and lost 2-1 at home to Carolina in essentially a must win game. My friends who are Bruins fans feel they don't deserve to be in, and I'd agree with their performance down the stretch here.

The Bruins have been a mess for a while. I would just love to wrap up a spot before the weekend. That way they could start Stolarz in one of the last 2 games and dress Emery as his backup which would give Mase a complete game off. And they could also rest a few regulars in each of the games as well

2 points any way they can get them would be fine.
I'm trying to figure out the worse case scenario.... I guess a Flyers loss in regulation tonight, and then the Bruins win in OT when they play the Wings would be the worst. Zero % chance that happens.

This would be a great scenario, and the way the Bruins are crapping the bed it may come to pass. I'd probably go with giving Stollie the Isles game if it means nothing. To send him against pitt right now will scar him for life.

I want to point out that I believe this has been their motto since I started watching them. Always take the hard way and nearly give me a heart attack.

To win on the road in the Joe with Detroit's long streak of making the playoffs at stake is going to be very hard

Everyone is assuming they will win, I'm just not sure at all about it
