Well Manning plays a lot more conservative a style than Medvedev. Medvedev is going to make more mistakes, that said his upside is much higher than Manning. He's got a lot more skill. - PLindbergh31
And they have been on this great run with Manning playing.
I know it doesn't make sense but they seem to play better defensively and have a different look when Manning is in over Medvedev.

Right now, I'll take the more conservative guy than the guy who's making high-risk plays. A guy like Ghost can take risks because he also makes up for his mistakes and his offense is worth it. Not so much the case with Medvedev. |

I'll do you one better: I'll send you AMac in Provorov's jersey. - jmatchett383
you would be trying to get a strapping 18 year old lad out of his shirt wouldnt you.

That is fair. No disputing it. I think we all agree Medvedev is the more talented player. That is really my only point. I think Hakstol doesn't trust Medvedev, so he doesn't play him. |

Fair points. I don't disagree with that. I do think Medvedev is held more accountable for his mistakes, then other players have been. |

Medvedev has definitely been inconsistent. Part of that is probably due to every time he makes a mistake he gets benched. He hasn't been able to get any type of continuity built up. Not easy coming to a new country, not being able to speak the language, ice size is different. Takes adjusting. I don't think he's been given a fair shake. - PLindbergh31
I don't think he has either. |

Isn't it interesting that it's always the pooptiest players that cause the most controversy.
Too much politically correct talk, Macdonald is a piece of poop for a team hoping to win a cup.
Irrelevant to the teams future on ice success. |

She was. A little bit of a fist-pump after the ENG. We were having dinner with the little lady for about 45 minutes worth, so I missed both Flyers' goals. |

Didn't say they were easy. Get two wins this week and hope things work out with Bruins and Wings. Could have the weekend games mean nothing like Bill suggested. - J35Bacher
Well they better get two wins, I'm going to the game tomorrow night and I have 100 bucks on it. |

I'm not going to question him at all. He's been very successful with what he's done and I doubt swapping in Medvedev, or any other player (sorry Weal lovers), would have them in a better place than they are right now. - Scoob
I don't think Manning for Medvedev is a very big swop. |

1. I don't think this team, this year, is a realistic Cup contender. Playoff contender, yes.
2. AMac has been bashed for 2 years now, pretty openly. He's played well as a bottom-pair defender. Better than Streit, to be honest.
3. He's not going to be part of the core moving forward, but he likely won't be the piece holding them back, either. |

Hard to argue with results though. They've been on a good run with him out of the lineup. |

I would take him over Read right now. I need more from Read. I thought Laughton and Cousins had a nice chemistry and were doing a good job together on the ice. - J35Bacher
Yeah, Read really has been bad with puck lately, he handles it like a grenade. I'd have no problem replacing him with Laughton.

Same. Read's obviously a better player without the puck, but man, it's like he forgot what to do with the puck. |

I think Hak is scared of Laughton defensively.
I am all for playing youth, but that part of laughtons game is worrisome. |

True, but Schultz also isn't the biggest or the strongest but provides the same thing. I get Medvedev offers something a lot different than Manning but after a loss against Edmonton, shouldn't we keep Medvedev going? Right now I'm asking myself what Jordan Weal is doing here. Umberger I understand why he's sitting but everyone else I believe should get a game in if the Coach can find an open spot. - SuperSchennBros
Very few coaches will tinker with the lineup when a team is playing as well as the Flyers have been for the past few weeks. I'd personally like to see Laughton go in for Read, but other than that, I can't see them, nor would I want them to, sit anyone else to get Weal into the lineup.

True, but right now, Read really isn't even playing that well defensively. However, at the end of the day, when it's crunch time, most coaches will go with a vet over a kid, so I can't really argue with Hak's mindset.

To me they are banged up as a group. Will be interesting to hear at the end of this year what the injury reports are. Playing at such a high intensity for an extended period of time. They "flipped the switch" a while ago.
Wouldn't surprise me to hear Read is hurt. Would be happy moving on in the off-season if possible though. He is definitely not the same Read that first played for th Flyers. |
