donald brashear was the best we ever had. Undisputed champion hands down. Dont think he ever lost once unless you count the stick to the head incident.
rypien likely next runner up though. Good scrapper for a smaller guy - SMBDragon
Agreed. He might have lost to Laroque, but he's the best we've ever had none the less.
Sorry guys Curt Fraser by a country mile (ask Dave Farrish) also Randy Holt as a Canuck and he went nuts in LA one night
Best fight I saw was rookie Harold Snepts v Steve Durbano of Pitts at the time no helmets and pounded each other's skulls in an exhibition game - the end
As for capacity to intimidate the other team and change the dynamics of a game with his fists, Brashear is right up there. But I'd say he lacked the fear factor resulting from the potential for mayhem and pure unpredictability that Gino brought to the lineup.
To me, I think he is an example of the change in hockey fighting. He had boxing training and kept that hand up for defense which you never really saw in a hockey fight, it was unique, and he went for punches thrown. Even in that Gill fight, he went for it and landed quite a few. These days (cough Prust cough) its all about grappling, seatbelts and spinning the guys around. Not too many fights are toe to toe throwing - WhiteLie
Pedan is a throwback...zero defense and he always goes for the KO. Fun to watch but I cringe when he fights

No i saw him.
I remember meeting him at A&B Sound in downtown Vancouver actually too.
I just think that for the guys that Ryper fought, his style, his courage and his success rate, or amount of shots that he landed makes him the best P4P.
Brash was a great fighter tho. I just don't favour heavyweights as much as smaller guys punching above their weight. - dbot
rypien was good and I agree he punched above his size.
I guess its more that there was no match for brashear. all contenders were a No contest.
Do I like rypien yes... right below donald if you ask me. Volpatti ought to be considered too but not here long enough to warrant this either.
Antoski was another good one years before ....

Volpatti had one lucky punch , otherwise he was Tanner Glass 2.0

Just shows how right I am your the only one here who says 13 year rebuild..? No on know what your talking about the flames had a 09/10-14/15 6 year playoff gap. And in that gap were still very competitive coming in 9th in the west 2 times. Iginla was traded in 12/13 hence the start of the rebuild. Coming off that our young talent got us into the playoffs when Vancouver has also made it once since then with rotting old talent. And if not for having the worst goaltending in the league many pegged the flames back in the playoffs this year including vancouvers tsn 1040 radio. But it makes sense that they won't be out of the bottom 10 anytime soon when your trying to make a point as stupid as a 13 year rebuild which would go back to losing to Tampa in game 7 make sure it actually makes sense
I know your trying to make yourself feel better but at least be realistic - Bigalow
Atta boy douche bagalow…post of the year!
And where have the Flames been since game 7 vs Tampa? 12 years ago going on 13? pretty common rebuild knowledge but hey…spin it however you feel. truth sucks hey?
around 4:30 Bobby Mac talking about d-men Nucks might draft. Sounds like Serg and Chych are looking pretty good! - neem55
Why... why... why do people keep listening to these radio clowns?
juolevi chychrun sergachev are all good. I like sergachev the best but we'd be good with any of those 3. chychrun has good size for his age and it shows....still rather have the other 2 skill wise. Sergachev has decent weight, scoring machine and a wicked point shot that will remind us of some the best nhls. He would be a fan fav in no time.

you know what?? I confused it with those 1040 guys. Thats who I was talking about.
I didnt look close enough in this case, very unlike me. But we all make mistakes.
BK is ok. Sometimes he has decent things to say, half the time its same crap as others but at least it 40-50% not 90-100% like 1040 guys - SMBDragon
Tony G was on talking about how Hansen scoring last night on the 5-on-3 made Willie look terrible. Seems to me that Willie put Hansen out there... It also seems like Hansen has had a pretty great individual year under the coach. Sometimes you just wonder about where the talking heads get their insights.

Is he referring to WD should have done it a long time ago? What's the context of the comment?

didn't listen to the link...but it brings up an interesting point.
Remember when Burrows didn't get an PP time? He'd play ES with Sedin's, but then they put Kesler or someone on PP1.
Same with Hansen this year. Has success with Sedins, but Vrbata is trotted out on PP.
I get the rationale (Getting Vrbata going, using Hansen on PK), but it makes you wonder if Hansen could get 30+ with regular PP time??
