They do need to shed money for their big contracts coming up next year, that's what I was trying to take advantage of maybe drop Moulson, add girgensons and a second? Sets them up for the future while giving us proven vets that have playoff experience - realsabresfan11
Well if they're trying to drop $$$ then they won't want Moulson
And Muzzin is signed for a few years at a very reasonable price, so no reason to move him
I see what you're trying to do...
Just don't think the Kings would make a trade like that
Maybe if Ennis had his typical 20+ goal season, they'd take him for Gaborik to save the $$$
But they don't wanna be "set for the future"
They're in "win now" mode
It's a big way to do it. We don't have a great history of picking past top 10 in the first round. I get that was all Darcy but getting 1 more blue chip top 5 prospect this year could give us the potential to build a dynasty. Now if we're lucky we make a move or two and could become the next Sharks or Blues. Make the playoffs be a great time but lack the complete dominance needed to be a perennial contender. Obviously Eichel and Reinhart are blue chippers better than any prospect San Jose or St. Louis has drafted (Sans Taresenko) But still not on Chicago levels.
We could possibly trade for some guys but they don't grow on trees and usually are being traded for one reason or the other. Besides Stamkos there is no one ever on the UFA market who could be the reason you get to the cup. You need to draft those players and seeing the "3rd line" and a few overpaid defenseman produce points against mediocre and bottom feeder teams doesn't really show me much improvement. More so the fact we brought in four new forwards this year and all four are top in points on the team. That's not an indictment of the team improving its and indictment of those four elite players coming in. Three of them top 5 picks. - bluengold12
So damn pessimistic. I guess we could be yearly basement dwellers like the Oilers and be disappointed every year with #1 overall picks. The guys we tanked for are a very big reason why we aren't finishing at the bottom. The tank worked. Everything is working. Almost a 30pt increase from last year. You gotta get off that tank wagon and join the rest of us.

It doesn't matter how many #1 picks they had. They now have the 1 that matters. They are in great shape for that reason alone.

Oh I know, just when I look at the team and their needs, Gaborik and Muzzin I feel are the two players this team desperately need. Another team I would look at trading with would be Vancouver or the Blue jackets are the only teams that I see actually trading some players this off season

We will see. Year one and no difference. McDavid can continue to put up big numbers and they will still lose if they don't fix what's wrong with the franchise. Every year since hall you here people say this will be the year they turn it around. 7 years later and here we are. Another bottom 3 finish. I'll believe it when I see it

Honestly, I cannot find a single guy on the roster of either of these two teams who I think fits with our franchise right now.

Yeah, I'd like those guys too
Don't really see them moving Muzzin though
Maybe Gaborik if they're really up against it
I could see Nash available from NYR for cap reasons
And possibly for a pretty decent price, especially if he doesn't have a good postseason

Kind of amazing how they just can't seem to get it together

Vancouver should attempt to trade the twins & other vets and just start over - jdfitz77
They probably should have done that and never signed miller.
Not sure what their GM thought he had going on, but it certainly wasnt a team built for a serious playoff run.
How about the entire Russian U-18 team and head coach being replaced right before they left for the U-18 Worlds? When has an entire team been caught doping?

Yes, and we should trade Moulson. But,in both cases, to whom for what? Nobody's buying. - Der Kaiser
The twins are still good players...
Idk what they could get for them (picks & prospects), or if they'd waive their NTCs, but there's gotta be a couple teams out there that would be interested
Maybe a team that goes after Stamkos & misses out?
If they were 2nd liners on a good team, that team would still be pretty good

do they belong in the HOF?
I think they would look good on the islanders second line next season
