Glass hit was borderline, but Vlad got caught admiring his pass. What he got is enough. - Artyukhin76
agreed, same w Boyle's hit on Girardi, they got the proper penalty called on them & its over & done with. |

Agree and disagree. Boyle's hit was not malicious, nor did he intend to hurt Girardi. It was actually a pretty harmless shove. But anyone who has watched hockey, played hockey or know anything about hockey understands that the harmless shove from blindside when your 4 feet away from the boards to a unsuspecting player because he's still 10 feet away from the puck is the most dangerous hit in the game. Just like a few years ago when Brad Richards was sent head first into the boards when he was on the point. Harmless shove, but it's Boyles responsibility to understand that play. G is not expecting contact nor SHOULD he because he's still so far away from the puck. So he can't protect himself. Not to mention it was blindside to top it off. - xcheckmajor

How bad did Girardi's injury look. And seriously not trolling here, but does anyone here think that McIlrath might be a better option than Girardi/Boyle at this stage to begin with? - Victoro311
Don't really know honestly. Girardi has had a tough year, and McIlrath hasn't seen extended playing time.
I personally would rather have G & McIlrath with Boyle sitting. |

McIlrath is a damn good defenseman in his limited playing time
He needs to see more icetime |

I agree. If they tossed Glass for an open ice hit, then same deal with the B Boyle hit on Girardi. Though, as you stated, players need to respect each other better and not have hits like this near the boards. I love had hitting action, but these blind-side shoves are garbage. I almost hate them as much as Cindy's and his boyfriend Milly Malkin's slew-foot shows. |

I guess I didn't realize that McIlrath didn't get in much. For whatever reason I thought he was getting rotated in semi regularly. |

I like him and the progress he has made, but would you as a coach purposely sit G in the playoffs to play McIlrath who has never played 1 playoff game?

Totally agree. He was a tad rusty, but he bounced back rather well last night. Kid has a monster shot, too. I think he scared Sam last night with one of his blasts that went wide. |

Girardi's experience in the playoff atmosphere will be invaluable to the team. I think its impossible to assess how McIlrath will be in the insane emotional playoff game. At this point though, I would like to see McIlrath and even Skjei rotate in during the playoffs for Girardi and Boyle just to get some rest. Both players have really impressed me with their poise and also their read of game. Skjei really is MiniMac, just needs a little refining. |

Gotta play your first playoff game sometime. Not so sure I'd sit Girardi to make it happen though. However, if G was not at least 80% healthy, then yes, I'd make the swap. |

I think he has been in 30 something games, but there where long stretches he didn't get to play. When Klein was out he got most of his playing time and looked pretty good. |

He never really was, he saw some regular time when there were injuries, but then when everyone was healthy he didn't see much action & then about a month & half ago he reinjured his knee & didn't play again till last night. He has never dressed for a playoff game, think that's gonna change next week. |

That's where I was getting that from... Well 30 games is a decent amount of experience, but you're right. If he hasn't played since Klein came back that's not ideal. |

I thought it was more like 20-25 but looked it up, he's been in 32 games this , didn't seem that much. |
