If you live in Manhattan, or LA, and you insult Buffalo, i understand. When you live in New Jersey or Detroit and insult Buffalo you are a Jackass who has never left your inbred, worn out, nasty, hooker filled streets.
I have been all over the country and world. There are very few places i would rather be than my house in Clarence. I have farms and country setting, and malls and city all within 15 minutes. Can't beat it. Only place i would leave to go to would be San Diego. Love it there(besides being that close to the border) - CoHo_to_B-Lo
I don't. Who would ever want to live in those urban chit-holes? Over-crowded, over-priced, loud, annoying, tons of ignorant immoral people. Giant buildings blocking out the sun, no grass, no trees...

They actually should be able to pony up less than any other team, and still make it worth his while - sbroads24
It doesn't quite work the way you're thinking as every player has to pay taxes based on the location of each of the 82 games they play, so while it is an advantage to have 41 games in FL, it's not a massive advantage. |

That is a bit of a broad brush you paint with sir, as in a way it implicates both Ennis and Girgensons as guys that will be what they were this year, which was virtually nothing, for the rest of their careers, and I fail to believe that is true.
I'll put them in two categories.
Disappointments: Moulson, Larsson, Ennis, Girgensons (I fully expect 2 of those 3 to be improved next season, and possibly much improved compared to this past season. I have no idea what to expect from Larsson as this is two years in a row where he has played very well down the stretch but was a ghost prior to that. Moulson, well, what is less than zero regarding expectations...?)
Inconsistent: Bogosian, Kane (production only), Lehner (injuries)
Bogosian is tough to figure out going forward and is likely best considered as a #4 D until he shows a full season of good play and health.
Kane and Lehner are two more that need to show a full season of consistent health and good play. - kingcong39
This is what worries me about Murray. Look at his acquisitions outside of O'Reilly
Moulson- Tire fire
Kane- Good but inconsistent
Bogo- I have no freaking clue what he is anymore, is he a #2 or a #4?
Lehner- Good but often injured, small sample size
Fasching could be a great pickup, jury is still out.
I wish I had more faith. I know this team will be good, I don't know if Murray can make the right moves to put us over the top.

Homie...
I'd trade a conditional 3rd for Stamkos, contingent on him signing.
If it absolutely had to be a 2nd, then I guess I'd do it...
But we might really wanna hold onto that pick if we trade our 1st rounder
Or maybe that 2nd is used to acquire someone like Hoffman, Nash or Yakupov, etc
It would be kinda weird if we traded a bunch of our picks with the Draft being here in Buffalo... But I don't think anyone would mind one bit |

Of everything we traded away though...
McNabb & Compher are the only pieces I really wanted to keep
U obviously have to give to get though

point taken, jerry, and thanks for mentioning that... shoulda kept it at around 5% which would cover most of the country...
top ny state tax rate is 8.82% so he saves about 4.5% playing in half of his games in fla instead of ny...if his taxable income is, say, $7M, that's over 300K he's saving in taxes by playing for tampa instead of buffalo |

Hahaha!
I go to Nyc quite a bit & one of my favorite bars there is the Whiskey Tavern
Their house shot is the "Pickleback" and u can get one with your choice of a PBR or a Genny Cream Ale for only $10
First time I walked into the bar, 75% had a Genny Cream Ale!
Was not expecting that
Great place, fantastic bartenders |

he's one of my favorite players, but he's not in their league...that said, it may take him a while, but he has always adapted and thrived in situations where he once struggled...
look no further than his year in the ahl when he scored only six goals in 61 games but punched in three in three games during the playoffs...he also struggled the first half of his rookie season in buffalo before locking it in...he followed an eight-goal season with 15...
this year he had a whole new system to learn...it took him a while, but he's playing some of his best hockey of the season...
based upon history, he's worth a look for at least one more season - Michael Pachla
Plus....
What kind of trade value would he really have?
He's not getting us a partner for Risto unless we're including better assets.
I see no need to "sell low" on him
Just wouldn't make sense |

Okay but Moulson was here right before that and was Darcy's acquisition and he did okay. None of us expected him to plummet so far. Not to mention he did well last year. Murray's biggest problem was giving him 5 years and a NTC.
I'm good with Kane. If he's your go to guy you're in trouble but here he's second fiddle and when he gets chemistry he's played well. Needs to show that for more games next year but I like what I've seen.
Bogo I'm also okay with and Lehner we've discussed next year is key.
Really tl;dr, next year s the year where Murray and all of his pieces are going to be under the microscope |

And, he's an RFA after this year so we'll still have his rights for a while. Don't need to pay him much at all and can see what he does. If it's good then great. If not we trade him then. Fortunately, we don't have to rush atm. |

What would it take to trade up from the 8-9 draft spot we're at now. To get to 2-3 not 1.
I'd be willing to offer our 1st this year our 1st next year anyone of Bailey, Guhle, Fasching, McCabe or Kane. Not sure if that would be enough but could be a start |

It would not shock me to see Eichel not on the final ballot.
McDavid has the hype and is playing at a point per game space.
Panarin, Larkin, and Gostisbehere have all had better contributions to the win column throughout the year.
It may not be fair, but I think you will see Eichel shut out. - buffalofan19
I'd list Eichel 5th
Like it or not, Panarin should win
And Larkin's stats are very close & he's contributing on a playoff team.
I know in some respects it's much more impressive what Eichel has been able to do on a team that was in the bottom 5 for most of the year...
But winning is valued more in this league, even when considering individual awards
Also...
This is the DUMBEST award the NHL gives out
I really could care less
More importantly...
Just one more thing for Jack to use as motivation

Bc of his poor offensive stats,
We should actually be able to sign him pretty cheap |
