Im sorry you dont see this correctly. we have a god awful D coach that is the worst Ive ever seen. Our D has been the worst in NHL since he's arrived. You cant put D failure on JB unless its not firing that clown earlier.
Our home record has suffered all season, what more do you need to see in that? WHy wait and prolong our agony? Just get better people here now. - SMBDragon
who is out there right now that we could jettison WD and Lidster for?
i say wait and see if anyone comes available in the off season. like claude julien or someone else... frankly, we should have jettisoned AV in favour of Q but hindsight is 20/20 |

on the lidster side....anyone.
So sure there isnt many head coaches out there as we'd like. That could change in the next few months though.
I have always liked Carlyle. He is amazing as a coach. F(ck he actually succeeded in the LEAFS into the POs! My god. Better than babcock has done thats for sure. He'd be excellent even just to run the D.
Doug Houda would be great at either D coach or HC too. JB tried to get him before settling on the current crew.
Julien could become available too. He was excellent in the olympics.

1 sad year & your in high panic mode like the sky is falling.
Show a lil patience & except the fact this season is not all that surprising.
Idc what happened last season when we had more prospects than ever before in our history & we had the need to force so many rookies to play this year.
U ignore the injuries & the 1st half schedule quite conveniently.
Bart & Weber were useless & nothing to do with coaching.
D don't grow on trees & the UFA market was thin & will be thin again.
The draft is where teams improve on D & has been that way for years.
Trading for top 4 D is hard until a team is under a cap crunch eg Boychuk/Leddy
I say an OS over & over again cuz a 1st & 3rd in 2017 is a fair price.
Lindholm is a huge upgrade if can be had for that. Demers a top 4 D UFA at best.
Add to that all the kids playing F & team defence suffered as expected.
U harp over & over all it is is coaching & all is fixed. I disagree when aged core & only 2 yrs into the transition. once again JB said the depth problem is on himself. The cup runs caused a lost tier of players where we have 30+ yr olds & kids. That gap is not filled & fixed easily.
28th PP had very much to do with lower scoring & home wins.
3rd period collapses on team D & Miller not worth his 6m.
Explain how WD's team goes from a 0-9 then beat SJ Ana & LA when the entire league struggles against those same teams on the road there?
Do forget JB saying we have not drafted D in the 1st rd in 10 yrs?
Does that not say anything or its heh just get a new D coach & voila. |

I don't know what to say boys other then the Canucks are just a complete garbage team. I'm sorry for all of you that need to go through this - Bigalow
Good luck with year 13 of your rebuild DB. Looks like Shink will be an excellent bottom 6 addition and you guy can keep working on your top 6 for your next 5 years of mediocrity. Good on you guys. |

if there was some logic to the defence systems and special teams it might not be a big deal... but when its a gong show everywhere, something's got to give. |

agreed on the defense front and you agree regarding julien and waiting to see who else is out there. i've also liked carlyle, i think he got unfairly blamed in toronto... wouldn't mind him at all. think he'd bring systems and strategy to the team.
also, babcrock is overrated...
coach Q should be heading up team Canada from now on out and the only reason he isn't is cuz Babcock that wiener isn't willing to concede that Q is a better coach with more titles even though babcock had roughly the same or more talent (especially when hossa was added to the team the year they lost to the penguins - datsyuk zetterberg hossa lidstrom etc... and he couldn't win the cup)... |

Yes team D &/or system seems problematic mostly due to poor D corp.
I say it gives if 25 games into next season & problems still persist.
PP just sux but PK holds its own pretty much. |

if CBJ lose both and we lose both, they take 3rd. If they get 1 point and we lose both games, we get 3rd. - Codes1087
i brought it up cuz you kept mentioning WPG for some reason.... and didn't mention the BJs at all... |

25 games in and we might have lost the season already... why not bring in a decent coach (carlyle, julien, etc...) who can implement systems by getting appropriate assistant coaches over the summer, and then use them in training camp and pre-season |

Like Babcock or not but Q got high draft picks to make his life easier.
Babcock & Holland did it the hard way & for many years.
Taking nothing away from Q or Babcock but its Tallon & Holland that get it done.

25 games in is what JB said is the 1st indicator.
Nothing will happen before then IMO
After that I'd hire a coach only if one is available or fired preferably.
P Maurice or D Cameron or Julien come to my mind.
If not then & WD is gone then an interim coach from within maybe.
Next year is not a make or break year but the kids need to progress.
Only other possibility is all the kids come on like gangbusters & we leap ahead faster on our move towards a new core. I won't hold my breath on that one but do expect 1 or 2 of the kids to show they belong & make big strides. |

My. Predictions for the summer
Demko signed in the next 5 days if not today.
North Dakota BC born Dman sign with us by the 15 th
Lotto pick or Sergachev first round pick
Second round Carter Hart or Neimelainen
Third round Ty Ronning
Lots of Sedin trade talk and Fire WD on the 1040
Canucks let Hamhuis walk
Two UFA signings ( one might be Lucic)
Lots of arguing on here |

edit: Was pretty disappointing to watch the 3 straight wins vs the California teams. Good for the kids for sure but three losses there would have basically solidified top 3 in one of Matthews Laine or Pulojevi (hopefully) that would have been able to step in and contribute next season. As much I want the D pick and would be ok with Sergechev or even Chychrun...those guys won't be ready for awhile.
Would be nice to get a franchise talent that can step in and contribute next season. |
