the league has kinda caught up to Ghost as well.
Only 5 assists, no goals in last 12 games.
Next year he will have to make some adjustments. (and hopefully find a better partner) - MBFlyerfan
I don't buy the Flyers are tired argument too too much, but for Ghost I think it may actually be true. He has never played a full pro season before. Going from 40 games in college to missing an entire season to an 80 game grind is tough. This being one among a few reasons for his slowing down, as you alluded to. |

Im not so sure that Ghost has "hit the rookie wall" as much I am aware teams have just learned to key in on him and Giroux.
I have noticed the amount of time and space Ghost is being given to make decisions gradually diminish over the last 15 games or so. I've also noticed teams are playing Giroux air tight and especially physical.
Ghost is not only our most skilled and best puck moving defensemen (by a country mile), he's the third most dangerous player on the entire roster with the puck on his stick. The fact that Voracek isn't playing at the level we've grown accustomed to is compounding these issues greatly.
Issues like this will alleviate in the near future as the team becomes more skilled. But in the mean time, it's just the reality of the way the roster is constructed. Shut down G, Voracek, and Ghost, you're basically asking Simmonds, Coots, and Schenn to run an offense.
Mason is really the only reason we're still in this thing. While we have the goalie, we don't have the defense needed to be a team that can rely on scoring 1-3 goals max to win a game. Guys like Strwit and Amac aren't going to get any better over night, so that leaves one solution. We either wake the offense up, or our seasons over.
For the record, I think moving Jake to the 2nd PP unit wouldn't be a terrible idea. |

No they apparently do not. However one of the local reporters said he doesn't think Sid or Letang will play. |

If I'm Pitt, I wouldn't play either players. We hate them and they hate us. We'll likely make them earn every inch of ice. |

The last two games have been very frustrating and I will be very disappointed if they don't make the playoffs. But I try to remind myself that over the past few months this team has been much more fun to watch. They are actually playing as a team, have more heart and fight than the last two-three seasons. They seem to have found an identity.
I'd be full of poop if I said I wouldn't been pissed if they miss the playoffs, but they are a lot better then what I thought they would be. This team has come a far way this season, but they better make the playoffs. |

THIS
Someone said it earlier, but it's true: Rather be us right now than the Devils
They can still make it, and it's not some byzantine confluence of events that everyone knows won't happen
They absolutely can still make it. The Rags are gonna roll over tomorrow, but Ottawa isn't
And if they win both games this weekend, it doesn't matter what anyone else does
Better this than being, what, 14 other teams right now |

I think Gostisbehere is also hurt by his defensive partner. MacDonald isn't the worst player in the NHL, but his passive NZ play tends to lead to a lot more time spent in the Flyers end for him and Gostisbehere.
Teams have adjusted to the Flyers PP-especially the first unit-and when teams get numerous bodies on Giroux & Ghost, the other guys have not been able to perform effectively. Whether it's injury or an inability to step up, it's a big contributing factor to Gostisbehere's dip in production.
I do disagree on the tired aspect. This team has been basically playing playoff type games for 10-12 weeks. Combine that sort of pressure(which admittedly is self induced by their poor play in October & November) with the grueling end of schedule workload of 12 games in 21 days, and fatigue is almost certainly a factor, and I think the mental fatigue is a bigger issue than the physical. |

Macdonald scored last night. Ghost, Giroux and Voracek didn't. Therefore Amac>everyone |
