He's struggling for sure. I would just let him play, if you are going to go down, go down with your best players.
Even before the injury he's had a pretty rough season. Only 11 goals. Hopefully next year he's the player he was in 2014. - PLindbergh31
agree, they have no choice but to roll with Jake.
Bill said it the other day. Jake at 70% is still better then the other options they have.
Sounds like he killed them last night though. |

He's only played well in one game since his return. No question he's dealing with the foot injury. He's trying to help the team, it's just not working out right now. Would love to see him have a good game tomorrow. |

It wasn't one of his better outings, but no one player lost them that game

For once, I think I agree with Donnellon when it comes to hockey.

He still commands respect when he's on the ice. Teams always have to be aware he is there, hurt or not.
I don't think there is anyone better to replace him with.
Dance with who you brought. |

I missed the game last night.
What were the Flyers lines?
Did Cousins sit out? - Marc D
yup Cousins was scratched
The lines at the start were
Schenn-G-Simmonds
Raffl-Coots-Jake
Read-Laughton-Gagner
the usual 4th
by the 3rd period, they were going with:
Jake-G-Simmonds
Schenn-Coots-Gagner
Raffl-Laughton-Read
the usual 4th

And I think the 4th line was the most consistent line out there for most of the game. They generated chances and kept the puck in the TO zone for good stretches. Too bad none of them can finish very well.

I would still rather sit Read and roll a lines like below:
Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
Gagner - Couturier - Schenn
Raffl - Cousins - Laughton
4th line
I think Read looks slow and really hasn't had any physical presence. |

Id scratch him. He looks awful and no a 70% Jake isn't better than the alternative Imo |

Giving awards to players who proceed to go out and lose to the worst team in the sport. What a concept. - PLindbergh31

they did play very well when he was out of the line up, but I think the rest of the team elevated their game then |

It's not just that they are tired, but lets face it, they are being asked to overachieve and that's very difficult to do for an extended period of time. On paper, this is not a playoff team. They are a 2 line team, and lack any top pair Dmen. Look at the Chicago vs St Louis game last night. Any of the top 3 Dmen on both of those teams would be #1 on our depth chart last night. I think that the Flyers top players are either out of gas (Giroux, Ghost and Streit) or not anywhere near 100% (Voracek). They just don't have the horses to win with sheer talent and it's very hard to win every game by outworking your opponent and having your goalie stand on his head.
No matter how they finish, they've exceeded my expectations for this season and I can't wait to see how this team develops over the next few seasons. - BiggE
Very well stated.
They have played with house money for a while, but the house always wins. |

I wouldn't scratch him but I would look to use him in a different way.
I would go back to Streit and Gostisbehere on the PP with Gostisbehere in Voracek's spot.
Also I would maybe go back to Voracek on the 3rd line with Cousins and Laughton.
Raffl - Giroux - Simmonds
Gagner - Couturier - Schenn
Laughton - Cousins - Voracek
