Was looking at a list of former 8th overalls. Its possible ristolainen is/could be the third best. Grant fuhr is 1, jeremy roenick is 2. Other notables- boedker, pouliot, sergei samsanov, derian hatcher, and taylor freaking pyatt.

I know you didn't agree with the late season winning streak, but I'm ok with a draft pick 3-4 spots lower, in exchange for seeing the team gel and key youngsters score some goals.

We should have ended the season no worse than the 4 or 5 pick. Imagine how you and I are gonna feel if/when a team in that slot wins the lottery.

Im more and more convinced he moves the pick unless someone inexplicably falls to 8 (but then you wind up asking why?)

Yea but Id be shocked if he fell to 8. Im not a fan but almost all of the teams below us could use some blueline help.

There's gonna be a really good player available @ 8. The ONLY issue is that player won't be an NHL ready guy likely. If TM can move that pick and an asset or two for a player that is ready NOW .......... I can see him doing that. But only in that scenario.

Buffalo is at the point were we need to take the next step and have a team that has depth to be playoff ready next year. The door is now open .......prospects do not accomplish that.

Thats not the only issue though. Picking at 8th is a toss up, you could get Risto, Boedker or Glennie. It's not the nhl ready that worries me, it's the fact you've come this far only to have the fate of your top pair in the hands of a complete unknown.

I meant NHL ready NOW.........

Whoever gets drafted at 8 will more than likely be an NHL player ... just a matter of when.

The only guarantees however stop at the 5 spot in most years so you do have a point.
