Even a soft cap would have made this team rival the Oilers IMO. Enough of a soft cap to keep just Buff, Ladd and Saad. Much less Leddy, Brouwer, Ladd et al....

Well...maybe this is just to bolster Rockford with guys they didn't play on giving ice-time to.

Just a depth move. Lots of forwards. Less D. Any word on Svedberg's injury? Maybe this means it is serious?
Best news today - Ott is practicing. So much for the colitis report. The man has been a swollen ass channel his entire career so why not play with one? He is exactly the sort of non disciplined cheap shot of a player that infects the rest with the same mindset. He and Backes were running around like idiots every game the Wild had a decent lead last year. Actually may have pulled out one of those games if they weren't in the penalty box at the end. - tredbrta

I would have thought they need Rasmussen for the physical aspect--
Runblad is a not so good insurance policy on the back end-- uggh would rather have seen Pokka recalled-- maybe he still can be recalled?
Anyone know what the league policy is for recalls from AHL to add to the NHL playoff roster? Does the playoff roster have to be set prior to each round and what are the rules on the 'black aces' availability etc--
Ott is Hitch's flunkey-- Reaves is just trying to stay in the game so he brings his football mentality to the ice-- and Backes-- well he does whatever he can to win-- but as long as Hitch is the coach the Blues likely won't win-- even if they get past round 1
The Blues biggest offseason move should have been to remove Hitch-- and that will probably happen this offseason - jb3333
And whom would 1suggest to replace a guy who has won over 700 games and a Stanley Cup as a head coach. Give me Reaves, Backes, and the 2kids paryko and Amundson, I'll give you Mashintor, the 3??? On Defense, I'd be fine going into the playoffs with those additions to the Hawks to add some jam. Reaves ain't gonna hurt you on the 4th line and Backes is a top nine also. And I am a Hawk fan but would take those 4guys gladly.

Rockford has playoffs too. Better for Pokka to get TOI there. Rundblad has some NHL playoff experience. He probably doesn't play unless there is an injury or Gus and Sved play like poop.

DK and and several others just collapsed in a heep. So big body bickel can't even stick around for the blues series...well after the 2 games he just had is that a surprise...
but why send them down with no cap and no roster limit...is this a move to help the hogs in the playoffs?

Blues need a coach that they will play for--regardless of his track record-- and the coach has to adjust to get the most out of the players and WIN big games-- so far that has NOT happened in the playoffs-- with Hitch and the Blues core as constructed--
Take a look at Trotz and the Caps how they are performing under him as opposed to Boudreau-- Trotz track record isn't highlighted by Cups or several hundred wins-- BUT the players will go through a wall for him--
Of the group you mentioned the only one I would want is Parayko-- and thought I heard the Hawks had him lined up and Armstrong swooped in last minute or something like that--

I think the series comes down to the Hawks defensive play. Not just the defensemen, but the forwards too. For example, Panarin is a big defensive liability. He gives the puck away too often. If everybody is healthy though, most of the poor defensive forwards will be in the press box. 86 is a concern, but he knows he has to step up in the playoffs. #2 being out in game 1 means the 3rd d pairing is going to be vulnerable too. It's going to be a hard-hitting series, but the Hawks can get through that. If they make it to the second round, that will be more of a speed series with Dal or MN, which will be a different set of problems.
If the Hawks play the way they did against St. Louis last week, they should win this series. They can outplay this team. - biskit67
You nailed it.. The forwards are really gonna have to support to make sure we have clean break outs. And will need to back check (trailer watch) to help out. And can our D survive the pounding that is coming from the Blues forecheck!!?!
Just my .02. I don't think Line 1 has to have a big scoring series, I think they just need to possess the puck. I think a lot will be shown starting G2 after Keith gets back healthy and rested. If the Hawks start cycling, the Blues are in trouble. That just takes it's toll on a team in a 7 game series. As JJ said, Ladd-Toews-Hossa was starting to gel before the injuries and it really showed in the possession game. If that's back, watch out. Then you have at least 3 lines that can possess (Jury's still out on TT's line).
good to see everyone skating..but I have my doubts how healthy 65, 81, and 50 are...
been alot of talk of rolling four lines and the hawks have the players and depth to do that....but have not all year cuz of injurys and the gapping hole @ 1LW...
i wonder if we will ever see it this year...don't be surprised to the Q blender at 11; might we see krugs with the wonder boys or the wonder boys opposite toews or at least kane with him...

bogie, you replied too soon, you missed the vid.
And honestly, I already need the therapy.
We have our men's league game on Thursday, I think I'm going to ask them to try and switch it to Wednesday so I don't have to watch.
