So the ship is going down if Mash dresses and Weise doesn't?
If that's the case, after the ship is brought up from the bottom I think the engineers will discover other major problems - like the D group wasn't good enough. - RickJ
Let me go a different way at this. if Panik is in over Mash on the 3rd line how many extra shots do the hawks have in the course of the game? I'm going to call it 5. So at a 8 % shooting rate that is a 3 extra goals over a 7 game series. Does that guarantee a win (NO) does it guarantee a loss (NO) But we would all agree 3 extra goals in most series depending when they happen might swing the series from one team to another.
I will move on from my Rant I hope Mash is out, I hope TVR is on his strong side, but if they both are not I still hope we win.

As I said previously, marginal players like Mashinter, Reaves, Jordan Nolan, Tanner Glass, Bollig etc ultimately don't make a shred of difference in a 7 game playoff series. They see a little ice time early on, flex their biceps and occasionally drop the mitts (even though there is almost no fighting in the playoffs). And then they go on with watching the game while the real hockey players decide the series.
Every team has 23 alpha males in the dressing room and 3 more who do the coaching. Clearly Q doesn't like what he sees from the guy wearing #25, considers him a weak link (or call it what you want). This isn't house league hockey where mommy and daddy pay for their kid to get equal ice time, win or lose and everybody is friends. If Weise is upset or shocked by his treatment he will have to get his head out of his butt and do something on the ice to prove Q has been wrong about him all along. - RickJ
They can if the team gets a lead and wants to maintain a high \ aggressive forecheck to keep the puck 200ft away or cause turnovers in the neutral zone. Tough to maintain pressure or a high level of intensity when only rolling 2.5 or 3 lines.
Especially players who can skate and have physical tools. |

Q is not infallible. He does a lot of things that make my head hurt.
But it seems we're blaming him for something he didn't do: he didn't lose the Cup last year. This move, that move, could have, would have - evaluate all of them on what actually DID happen.
History tells us that both TT and Vermette played better AFTER the benching, and the Hawks won the Cup: you could just as easily say that if they weren't benched, they wouldn't have played as well, and the Hawks would have lost to Anaheim. - StLBravesFan
Vermette played one of his best games as a Hawk in G2 vs Anaheim and then was benched in G3 ????? Returns in G4 and scores o/t winner.
Q does some strange crud sometimes.

At this stage in the game (to the team), isn't Trevor Daley = David Rundblad? - powerenforcer
Daley is skating 20 mins a night with 6 goals and 22 assists over 53 games. It also looks like he is driving play in the right direction.
If there would have been some adjustments in terms of system to better fit the players they had, I think this could have worked a bit better. It isn't like the D could have been worse this year. But since the infallible winner of three Cups is incapable of adjusting his scheme for players who don't fit you run into issues. And I'm not saying Q is an idiot, the results speak for themselves, but I'd think he would be just a little more pliable.
3 Cups and two WCF finals later is the only argument for Q I can think of right now but it is also tough to see this player positively contribute in a significant way on another team with Stanley Cup aspirations constructed in a similar top heavy way like the Hawks. |

Agreed Fatty. I wish a reporter will some "stones", like back in the old days before they they all became fawning sycophants would just ask Q this....."you've said that rolling 4 lines is important to win the Cup......then I'm also assuming you think that Mashinter as a raw rookie brings more to the table than a vet like Weise who's actually had multiple game winners in the playoffs? Just want to make sure I understand you Coach."
And then shut up and wait for an answer. And if none is forthcoming.....ask it again. |

So you think it's easier to change the system for one player then for the player to change his game to the system? Remember, every other D-man (minus Rozy) has either come up through this system in Rockford or hasn't played anywhere else. So it's up to Q to change his system for Trevor Daley? Why can't we just say he didn't fit and move on? He fits in the Pens system better, great, more power to him. Scuds isn't with this team either...he fits better in Sutter's system. Good, more power to him, too.
Q's system works until it doesn't work anymore. Maybe they are on the cusp of that. But, it's much easier for one player to try to work into a system, then to change the system for one player.

this was from another board, Not posting because it has validity but more because I have not seen us mentioned with either of them.
"I heard Stetcher is trying to choose between Edmonton and Vancouver
Cagguila is down to Vancouver and Ottawa but i think there are a couple other teams involved"
The Vesey thing will go on for a while. If he was smart he would have done what Reilly did last year and say I want to take a look at my options and would like to talk and visit with 4-5 teams including Nashville and compare and contrast. Col let Reilly do it. NASH will never let him do that now.

Sometimes tough to gauge the validity of these things, but there are whispers of Jimmy Vesey interest in Buffalo, and playing w/Jack Eichel |

If Q wants to sit Weise in favor of Panik, that is 100% fine. Panik has been playing like a man possessed, creating offensive opportunities on every shift. Brandon Mashinter still cant keep up, cant hit anyone, and cant even land a clean punch in a fight. Mashinter on line 3 and Keith out of the lineup looks to be a recipe for a 1-0 St Louis series lead. Cant wait for the 3 lines Q will roll tm and Mashinters 7 minutes of garbage. |

Everyone is finally healthy for the Blues.
Game 1 is going to be the first time all season that we can dress our full lineup.
I still have questions about Allen, I hope he is actually healthy as I believe both of our goalies are going to get time in the series. |

It's franking mind-blowing that this goon is in the Blackhawks' lineup over Panik + Weise. Just beyond belief. Q is a stubborn franker. THE DAYS OF THE GOON ARE OVER Q! Dale Weise laying a body check at full speed is way more impactful than Mashinter punching Reaves in the helmet and being tossed to the ground after 30 seconds of grappling. This grinds my gears. |

The usual suspects will celebrate this move as a way to "send a message" that we'll respond if you check us hard.
It makes NO SENSE why Mashinter is in. NONE. |

I think when Kane and Panarian are on the ice we should play three defensemen so they can run the globetrotters action for 20 minutes a night. |

And Queneville is doing his best to ensure the Hawks have less than their best lineup on the ice in game 1. You're welcome.... |

Mashinter hasn't won an NHL fight since 2013. His fights this year are a joke. The physical pain that Panik/Weise can inflict on the Blues dman when their 220lb bodies are going NHL speed on the forecheck is far more impactful than anything Brandon Mashinter has done in a Blackhawks' uniform all season. Not to mention that Richard Panik has done EVERYTHING that could be expected of him, and he gets a healthy scratch for this gongshow, lead footed goon. Weise, whatever, he hasn't done anything. Panik...that's got to be really disheartening for him to play so well and see the press box game 1 of the playoffs... |
