If Weise sits could someone explain why the Hawks traded Danault in the first place? I Thought he was a good, versatile young Hockey Player who was contributing nightly.
- Colbyboy

danault was expendable because the hawks have someone named marcus kruger who just signed a 3 year/9 mil extention...

And let me just say this, if the Hawks biggest problem is the "difference" in talent between Dale wise and Brandon Mashinter, schedule the parade.

In the meantime, focus on the blue line.

- John Jaeckel

Agree about the d-men JJ but as you well know.....if you're rolling 4 lines and keeping possession a majority of the time, it will certainly help the d-men. Having said that, let's see if the blender only applies to the forwards tomorrow.

According to Tracey Myers, Q says that Weise will play at some point.

My guess is that point will be after we spot the Blues a couple of wins.

Could have been in the plans the entire time, but the Kruger extension felt like a reactionary move by StanBo after trading away his 4C of the future for a healthy scratch and Fleischmann who could have been acquired on a Professional Tryout last summer...

you guys have gone way off the rails with hyperventilating over weiss vs mashinter and the trade that brought weiss/fleisch here....

Q was looking forward depth and stan got it....what has happens after the trade is out of stans control...

as jj commented the hawk's biggest issues are not 53 over 25....there are about 10 more important that...

stop focusing on a flea on an elephants ass...

Does that mean Ott is in the line-up? What is your thoughts on that? As a fan of the opposing team, I think that weakens your line-up a bit. But then again, Q is trotting Mash out there, so maybe that balances out the line-ups.
- powerenforcer

Not sure on this one.

I have a hard time believing he will be up to speed for playoff hockey. But he wouldn't be in MY lineup. In Hitch's is a different story...

I'd compare Mashinter in the lineup as more of a mosquito that is threatening to infect the entire elephant with West Nile virus.....

Mashinter instead of Panik is what concerns me, not so much Mash instead of Weise. Panik is very fast and he has been able to score. Mash isn't fast at all and with the exception of the one snipe all his goals have been other players basically banking the puck off his stick and he happened to be in the right place. Teravainen is the center on the 3rd line, great at passing to the point of often surprising people. Who has a better chance at finishing what TT sets up, Panik or Mash? I think it's Panik and I think playing Mash instead basically neutralizes the third line and now you're hoping that line 1 plays better than they have all season, Line 2 is able to play globetrotters in playoff hockey which I'm not sure they're gonna be able to do and it might take a bit to adjust, and you're hoping Shaw is 100%. And if ALL of those are true, you still only have 3 lines because you're playing the third line for 6 minutes with stone hands, ginger Czech, and a non-physical center

The media's Twitter accounts currently blowing up over the Mashinter choice. Maybe they feel like they'll have to ask and seems they might have in the post-practice today.

From: Chris Hine ‏@ChristopherHine
Tomas Fleischmann on Mashinter: "He can skate and has a big body to open up more space for us with Teuvo. That’s basically what it is."

Quenneville on Mashinter being in the lineup: "You've got 3 guys that probably all deserve to start if you're going to look at one spot."

More Quenneville on forwards: "I could foresee changes as we go along here and it's nice dealing when we've got options like that."

Only thing I can think on Panik being in the box for the first game is the staff wanting him to get a picture of how much faster and more intense playoff games are. Otherwise

But. . .I know what I'm going to blame if we are one and done:

Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc
Patrick Kane on @WGNRadioSports: "I think I'm going to skip the mullet this year." #Blackhawks

This might be the most troubling news the week! The playoff mullet has been great luck so far...why mess with a good thing Patty Kane???

I just tweeted at Lazerus and Tracy Myers asking if anyone has asked Q what he sees in Mash and why he plays him when it means he's not rolling 4 lines. Not expecting an answer but who knows, maybe they'll eventually ask

Like to see that too Maria. Since Myers works for CSN, maybe she'll ask the tougher questions since Q has to talk to CSN per contract but I'm not holding my breath for either.

Listening to the interview, sounds like he is thinking the same thing about his current hair based on the season he had.

The time Tracy Myers, Chris Kuc, Mark Lazerus, and others ask a tough question, that will be a first. Extremely frustrating they choose not to ask any fair, but controversial questions.

Encouraging statement by Q yesterday about Crawford—Hawks will need him to be dialed in and on top of his game. That's priority #1.

Hossa sounds ready to go, bum knee and all. Also good news because that line looked good enough before he went out to present a matchup problem in a 7-game series.

Shaw back and says he's ready. also good, because the Kruger line was huge last year just doing what it did. And they were showing signs again before Shaw got hurt.

All this is good and necessary because to my eye, the big ??? is on D. TVR should be OK. But the third pair is kinda scary and when Rundblad is the cavalry . . . . ugh.

- John Jaeckel

Yes but JJ look what we had last year for our 3rd pair> I think we are in better shape this year by a wide margin!

Sadly, father time has not been kind to his hairline. The "business in the front" has closed down.

Lets be honest.....if Mashinter costs you a game, you have more problems elsewhere. The only logical reason he is playing because Q expects a very physical game tomorrow night and the Hawks lack size up front. So 53 slides into the token Bryan Bickell spot since we all saw how slow Bickell still is, and thank CHRIST his Hawks career is over. not having to watch 29 log around like a big pile of crap will be a huge relief this postseason.

I will not defend Q, as he did this same thing to 80 last spring and sat him. If you look at 80s post deadline stats and 25's, you'll notice the same thing.....virtually ZERO contribution on the score sheet. 80 won a shoot out but never notched a goal. 25 hasn't notched one either.

14 reminds me of a poor man's Stalberg. Fast, can create havoc when he's engaged but still a little raw and unsure of himself. I'm sure TG will immediately call for 14 to be installed into a lineup because the scratching of 25 in 13 led to a cupless spring..........

If 5 plays, I'm going to immediately do 5 doubles and hope to pass out before he trips and falls all over himself and giving up countless chances. Just amazing how Stan's biggest piles of crap in recent memory. First Bickell, and then Rundblad. There has to be better options....has. to. be.

But on the forward-looking good news front:

‏@frank_seravalli
Sounds like front runners for Frozen Four MOP Drake Caggiula are (in no order): CHI, EDM, PHI, VAN and OTT. I think BUF is in the mix, too.

Was impressed with what I saw of him in the FF Final.

ETA: And Motte named to US Men's National Team.

2 words: Brandon Faber

A McDonough soldier who will control the message in the locker-room. Every Hawks player wears a hat postgame interview, and everyone floats around the same clichés. Not one organization controls information like a McDonough led one.

I do agree and that's where Tim S is missed. Nobody in this beat circle asks the tough question. They are all lap dogs. Myers technically works for the Hawks. Uncle Barry views McDonough the same way the Hawk views Yaz. Lots of tissues being used in both cases. Lazerus I don't think cares outside of being a smart ass, and Kuc has no clue where he is...So we dont' get much. We know it. They know it, but most importantly the Hawks know it.

WTF you asking me?

She at least tweeted that she personally would play Panik over Mashinter. Unfortunately the logical next step of her asking Q didn't occur to her apparently.

Q also said that Runblad looked great on the ice. So now we know he's completely full of poop and lying through his teeth so it's not like they'd get a real answer even if they had the balls to ask
