I've been seeing the same thing all year. A failure to adapt while other teams have adopted the hawks style and tweaked it. This was a defense first team, carried by their smart, swift blueliners and a fierce commitment to hounding the puck and keeping it. The personnel are no longer adequate to keep it up, with all the new guys and holes in the roster. There have been a lot of square pegs in round holes all season long, and the ones that didn't fit right were benched, then shipped off. Most seem to be doing just fine elsewhere, funny enough. - kinigitt
Great coach dont get me wrong. Still kind of frustrating sitting on the outside looking in with out knowing any of the rationale behind the decisions. |

TL;DR version of my earlier post:
Hawks win 28.5% of games when Mashinter plays instead of Panik
They win 57% of their games when Panik plays instead of Mashinter
one of those wins you a series and the other sends you golfing |

Realistically is Mashinter going to play more than 5 minutes? Unless you guys are up big or this game goes to OT I don't see it.
Q is going to try to sneak him on the ice during play. Not trot him out there and let Hitch have last change. |

Agreed Gerk, but how does one roll 4 lines when one guy plays 5 minutes? |
|
|
|
Need to relax ,how much of a track record do you want .Q is not a ego maniac ,or fool . He is putting the best team he can at this point . Maybe there are injuries or chemistry issues . Have faith ..GO HAWKS !!!!!!! |

I guess hope your other 4th liners are also going to kill PKs so they get some minutes that way? |

>That's mighty kind of you, 66 - SnapitUpstairs
I'm not shining a knob, I'm being honest.
To make adjustments first one has to comprehend what's happening. Anybody can say "they scored more than we did, that's why they won". But to recognize the ebbs and flows of what's happening in a fast game isn't as easy as it sounds, and what is seen is a matter of perspective. For many years I was as close to the action as you could get so I saw a lot of things that people with say a 300 level or tv perspective could never see. But it was a little like the tunnel vision one would get from a microscope. I regularly missed what one could easily see from a 200 level perspective or tv with replay.
I thought Dineen was a smaller player that played a little bigger than he was and had good puck sense. That sense is what I believe makes him a good coach. And honestly, if it comes out that Snapper was a coach, analyst, or someone regularly involved with game operations on some level I wouldn't be a bit surprised. I've yet to see one of his posts that I thought were off base, no matter if I agreed or not. The logic is always there. While he may be critical at times he is always constructive. Outstanding poster on this site for sure. |

“The four-line rotation is something that’s been a little inconsistent all year,” Quenneville said. “I think that’s the area we’d like to shore up.”
and whose fault does he think this is?

Damn it Gerk, quit thinking sensibility. No, Mash doesn't kill penalties, only causes them. |

they have not rolled four lines most of the year....
pretty hard to do when you trot out 10 guys to play LW with Toews; i think 6 guys got their 1st goal this year; garbutt and sekic = in and gone; and injurys

Long time reader, first time poster. Regarding Mashinter, I believe Toews, Kane, Keith and other core players feel more comfortable - and want - him in the lineup, particularly against a Blues team that is going to try to run the Hawks out of the building. This is the reason Q has Mash on the team and will play him in the first game. |

Ok counselor, how would you re-frame that question? Something along the lines of....."So Coach Q, are you saying that the said results of not rotating four lines is somehow outside of your influence or knowledge?"...
And I am not an attorney or have played one on TV, but I am a bullsh*t artist from way back. - ILGolfer
Well assuming he's an adverse witness and I can cross-examine him...
1) You've previously said that the Blackhawks are at their best when you're able to roll 4 lines?
2) In fact, many attributed the Blackhawks Cup win last year to having unmatched forward depth, is that right?
3) Because rolling 4 lines creates matchup problems for the other team?
4) And it's beneficial to spread out minutes?
5) So you don't tax your top 2 lines?
6) The Blackhawks were widely acknowledged to have one of the best 4th lines in the Finals last year?
7) In the playoffs last year your 4th line had an average TOI of 15+ minutes?
8) This season your 4th line has often averaged less than 10 minutes TOI a game, correct?
9) Inability to roll 4 lines has correlated with many of your losses this season?
10) You've stated that the Hawks have been inconsistent this season with rolling 4 lines?
11) You are the person who determines who will play in each game?
12) You are the person who dictates who plays on which line?
13) And you are the person who decides how much ice time each player will get?
and then you stop without asking the one question too many and then you remind the jury in closing that Quenneville himself told this court that the Blackhawks have been inconsistent with rolling 4 lines this season, that it has negatively affected them in the standings, and he is the person who determines which lines to play and for how long, and as such you must find him guilty of being in love with Brandon Mashinter and/or too old school to see sense sometimes.
Now you can be a lawyer too in 15 steps or less! |
