History Lesson:
The only reason the Blues were in the final in the late 60's was because the Expansion Teams were in 1 Division and the Original 6 were in the other. The Blues were a collection of miss fits and cast offs from the Original 6 teams

Doug Harvey, Red Berenson and Glenn Hall. They would not have made the Playoffs in the other Division and despite being in the final were far from the second best team in hockey. They were swept every year.

yes...thanks for pointing that out...the nhl to stimulate interest wanted the expnasion teams in the playoffs and have one in the finals...

Simply a total guess on my part - Q likely thinks he needs somebody in the lineup in Game 1 to fight one of the 3 or 4 guys on the Blues with IQ's 1 above lettuce - Reaves, Bortuzzo or Edmunson. He really doesn't want to use Ladd or Shaw for that so the choice is his own cretin - Mashinter. Yup, it takes a better hockey player out of the lineup but that's the way it is in the eye for an eye hockey world.

And remember this from 2 years ago - the Blues were doing whatever they wanted physically to the Hawks in the first 2 games of the series until Seabrook applied the knockout punch to Backes and after that the Blues faded like one of my $79 suits. Seabs will be forever in my Hall of Fame for that hit. Everything changed for the better after that.

Mashinter is a diversion. Brouwer and Reaves and Backes have to watch him running Fabbri. Like Carcillo used to be, he's a lightning rod to take physical pressure and after the whistle stuff off Teuvo, and help Teuvo and Fleischmann feel safe out there. Is it right? I don't know—but THAt IS WHY he's playing. New blog up.

Runblad should look a little better, he has not played hockey in what 3-4 years more then every 3rd game for 5 minutes.

The hard thing with Mash is why don't you play Weiss or panic (I would do panik since he has played so well) and if someone does not play well. Flesch, Panik, TT, Desi then you put him in for a game. Why start with him, when you know at his best he has no negative or Positive impact on the game. I think you start with a guy that could have a positive impact and if he does not bench him. Or tell panik or Weiss they made need to fight if they need to.
