It might be later then that. Bernie had a full head of gray hair at 33?? - PLindbergh31
I think you're right now that it's probably later. His '78-'79 card
but this claims to be '77 and he looks grayer

Keith Jones told the story of the 1999 playoff loss to the Leafs, when LeClair got called for the penalty at the end of the elimination game.
Jonesy says after the game Snider told him they got hosed by the refs, and to "Say whatever you want. I'll pay the fine."
Afterwards, Snider joked to Jones that Jones owed him. After all Jonesy only got fined $2 grand. Ed got hit for $50K - Jsaquella
That was easily for me the worst, most frustrating way to lose a series. We didn't have Lindros and I still think the call on LeClair was brutal. If you wanna talk about reoccuring nightmares, this was it. |

Thank you, Mr. Snider, for giving all of us in the Philadelphia area the opportunity to have an NHL team all our own.
It is the greatest sport on earth, and you were the best owner this city ever had.

I may have dished it out a little toward Mr Snider but at the end of the day we were all truly lucky to be fans of a team with such a great owner. His passion and dedication to the Flyers were evident beyond measure.
Even to those not living in Philadelphia, the name Snider always resonated. May the man rest in peace knowing his legacy will forever live on.

thank you bill, for the detailed tribute. well done as always.
i am truly heart broken, and have shed tears for me a man i never met. i won't go on and on - i've already done that elsewhere - but i will just say i eternally grateful for the gift Ed Snider has given me and countless others.
I have never been more proud of this organization and am proud to be a fan. They are in my DNA, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
It is tragic they were unable to win another Cup while he was still alive, but it is not for a lack of effort. There will be another Cup, sooner rather than later, and it will be won is honor and memory.
Thank you, Mr. Snider. Godspeed. |

That first game back in Philadelphia will be magnificent.
In a lot of ways, this team is what I think Mr Snider always envisioned. A group of men not the most skilled, not the fastest or biggest. A group with hearts of lions using their sheer will and hard work to win.
Let's go Flyers. |

what Mr Snider has done for the City of Philadelphia goes well beyond just bringing the Flyers and the family atmosphere of the organization. His founding of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation which I have the privilege to volunteer with for years has opened up the ability to kids from the city of Philly and Camden to play hockey as well with work with the kids off the ice with their schooling and just how to be better people. Thanks to Mr Snider many of the city rinks were not only kept open when they were on the brink of being closed down, he also had them renovated.
Mr Snider was a great owner but more importantly, a great man. - nastyflyergirl

I've had my issues with him, as im sure much of the fanbase has had. Never did I question his commitment and dedication to the franchise. For a time I thought they'd never ditch their archaic team building philosophy that hadn't changed when the cap was introduced. He had however impressed me with his embracement of the new direction the team has taken under Hexy. He truly wanted what's best for the flyers. |
