In that case, nobody that played a year in the AHL should win it either.
- buffalofan19

I guess Austen Matthews would be ineligible for it next year, too.

- Michael Pachla

I can't help you if you don't see what I was getting at

and I disagree Domi had a better year

- navinrjohnson

You're pouting because Reinhart isn't being mentioned. The dude had 42 points, along with other stats that were not as good as some of the other rookies.

And if I remember correctly, you were the one that was saying, he would score 50 points his rookie campaign, which he did not do.

Remember when everyone said this was a "Weaker draft" and the top end talent was "meh"

That was fun...

- ImThatGuy

Nylander- 8th overall
Ehlers- 9th overall
Larkin 15th overall
Fabbri 21st overall
McCann 24th overall
Pastrnak 25th overall

All players already making an impact by the age of 20.

To his credit, many said Reinhart didnt belong in the NHL yet.

So Homie err Navin was closer than most here saying Reinhart needed to be in the A.

I agree with Homie. The Skunk needs some sort of recognition but some on here would complain and find fault in getting a blow job from a hot girl out of their league.

i was aboard the Reinhart train as well. I quietly agree with H/N that he would be good this year. I really wanted him to get 50 points.

Its like saying she wasnt a 10, she was only an 8

IMO Ekblad was the best player in the draft and thus drafted #1. It was thought to be a crap shoot amongst the next 3 (the Sams and Drai). They are all very similar in that they are all top 6F right now, all have shown glimmers of elite talent. Larkin was the one that fell and if we had taken him #2 GMTM is lying dead in an alley after the draft. Between those three I still take Samson first because he not only has the physical talent, but it looks like he was much more of a cerebral hockey player that would have the greatest chance of taking a further step the other two are incapable of making.

Point is...we got our guy. Just so happens he stinks...you never stunk?

Bennett was voted the smartest player in the OHL coaches poll.

I have 0 issues with Reinhart at this point. He's been great. But his hockey IQ makes up for some of his short comings that the others already have in terms of skating.

The good news is it looks like he possibly will be the best forward of the bunch, which in Oct, Nov, looked like it was far from the case

McDavid only played half the season. He should not be a finalist.

I'm fine with Panarin as the winner, but the finalists should include Eichel and Ghost, too.

I feel like a lot of us have been saying all year that his improvement was incredible and great to see... does he need a little ribbon saying keep up the good work champ and a pat on the fanny or what?

The last rookie of the year awards handed out in the Buffalo organization

AHL - Luke Adam
AHL - Tyler Ennis
AHL - Nathan Gerbe
NHL - Tyler Myers

Add - Corey Conacher also had an AHL rookie of the year. Not with buffalo but had that stint here.

I think we need to stay away from ROY awards for the time being.
