Why would we make our future captain in ROR an odd man out??? Why shift Eichel, just doesn't make sense to bring in Stamkos to disrupt the good that we have going. - bobmack13
If we could grab Stamkos we would have an even better thing going |

This...
It's not like if we have ROR riding shotgun with Eichel or Stamkos that he will be less capable of being a good captain..
EDIT: Now if only someone would show Kane how to get all those shots to go past the goalie |

At 11 million dollars a year the question isn't about a better or worse thing...it's definitely a better or best argument. 11 million on one player, who has been injury prone lately and playing out of position...can understand some opposition to the idea. I love the idea and say sign him and see what happens...but I'm a gambler. You should never trust thoughts on probability from a gambler. |

If it came down to a decision between Eichel, ROR, and Stamkos i think ROR goes to wing
Eichel was drafted to be our #1C for the next 15 years...moving him now just slows down his progress
Stamkos may or may not demand to stay at C if he were to come here...not worth upsetting
ROR just seems to be the odd man out...in a pinch (or when we really need a faceoff) he can shift back into C - feetontheair22
SO you take the guy off the dot who wins 56% of faceoffs? |

Step 1: Shoot the puck at the space below the crossbar and between the goalposts.
Once he gets that down then he can move on to the goalie part of the process. |

Going back to The Player being a great show, I was pissed that it was cancelled and that we didn't get an ending - CoHo_to_B-Lo
I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "great" show, but it was entertaining, and some kind of wrap-up would've been nice. |

A tip of the cap to Eichel for his rookie season, but he's nowhere close to winning the Calder, let alone in the conversation.
McDavid, Panarin and Gostisbehere OR Gibson are your nominees, with Panarin winning the Calder.
Even Larkin is ahead of Eichel given what he did for Detroit making the playoffs. An argument could even be made for Domi to be ahead of Eichel given his numbers and having less of a supporting cast and in a much tougher division.
Eichel is like 6th or 7th down the list in a deep year for the Calder. |

When my kid was like 4 or 5 he used to run around down in the basement with a plastic ball and little hockey stick yelling in his best RJ voice "MAXIM AFINOGENOV, MAXIM AFINOGENOV, MAXIM AFINOGENOV, MAXIM AFINOGENOV."
With that Avi, you'll always be ok by me. - Der Kaiser

Yup it's stupid to consider Panarin a rookie but he will win it cuz thems the rules.
I agree with your 3 finalists. - Iggysbff
The Calder isn't the "rookie of the year" award just like the Hart isn't the "best" player award. Like Pach's blog stated, the Calder is "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League (NHL)" No where does it say "rookie" in there, and this is Panarin's first year in the NHL. His 7 or whatever years of KHL experience have no relevance to anything involving the NHL. |

Ya, said another way, hit the damn net, unless you're playing it to go of the boards as a pass.
Edit: Although, he did play much better when he was on Eichels line with Samson. |

They're having fun right now with an article saying how the team isn't naming a captain (now would be an awfully weird time anyways...but Toronto media needed something I guess).
They're all saying how it means he's not on the team yet, and posting pics of Stamkos. - stashu
They usually name the captains like a week before the season starts. That's how most teams do it. And since they shipped out their captain the Leafs will be without one until very close to next season. |

Not the point, 11+ mill for 6-7 years. You better make sure that he's not going to have any setbacks. The pro-Stamkos bandwagon assumes that missing a rib, and a blood clot issue is a non-issue.
I'm all about more goals, ect., but there has to be a smarter way.

Where is Nylander on the list?
There are few people who may like domi as much as me ( my favorite player to watch in jrs.) but if you think they are on par with each other your crazy. Domi had 2 good months |

Look at Eichel's last quarter of the season then look at the list of 2nd wingers he's played with. Do the same with Larkin and get back to us |

McCormick won't play again because of blood clot issue. - chilliard77
Not all blood clots are created equal. McCormick and Dupuis had DVT's which lead to PE's. Stamkos just had the one in his shoulder. McCormick and Dupuis and the other guy I can't think of off the top of my head all had life-threatening clots that could've broken off at anytime and went to the heart or brain and bam they're dead. Stamkos was able to wait a few days to have surgery that doesn't sound quite the same to me. Plus I don't think McCormick would've played any more than 10 games this year anyway even if he was 100% healthy. |

KHL should be considered a professional league since the quality of players there is higher than the A or other Euro leagues... it is not NHL level, but then neither was the World hockey assoc (WHA) and players from that league weren't allowed to win the calder either... - kaptaan
I agree. Gretzky wasn't eligible to win the Calder because one year in the WHA. |
