And then when suggested that the Sabres would have to include a couple first round picks in that trade scenario, he followed up with this beauty....

@Sabres_Fans @mjgatas Murray doesn't trade 1st rounders

- rmiethaner

I thought you were making it up, but no, he really said that.

NO sense arguing with a Trana fan. They know all since they have all those cups regardless if Rod Stewarts Tonights the Night being #1 on the charts last time they won

If you can guarantee me that Stamkos will be the same , then I'm all in. My gut tells me long term, high dollar contract, .
Is he going to be scared going into corners, play tentative???
I can just see the boards if he does go down, they'll be looking for Murray's head on a spike.

- bobmack13

Why/how could that be an issue? The "rib" is a tiny piece of bone that is useless. The clot is a result of repetitive use. If someone had tendonitis would they be tentative?

Not all blood clots are created equal. McCormick and Dupuis had DVT's which lead to PE's. Stamkos just had the one in his shoulder. McCormick and Dupuis and the other guy I can't think of off the top of my head all had life-threatening clots that could've broken off at anytime and went to the heart or brain and bam they're dead. Stamkos was able to wait a few days to have surgery that doesn't sound quite the same to me. Plus I don't think McCormick would've played any more than 10 games this year anyway even if he was 100% healthy.
- Wetbandit1

My post had no direction to Stamkos, just posting the news that McCormick not playing again is now official.

Not the point, 11+ mill for 6-7 years. You better make sure that he's not going to have any setbacks. The pro-Stamkos bandwagon assumes that missing a rib, and a blood clot issue is a non-issue.
I'm all about more goals, ect., but there has to be a smarter way.

- bobmack13

35-45 more goals for 6-7 years is what I'm looking at.

We all see what it cost for Kane, and he potted 20 goals. Do we want to move the assets to get 1 or 2 more Kane's?

Why would we make our future captain in ROR an odd man out??? Why shift Eichel, just doesn't make sense to bring in Stamkos to disrupt the good that we have going.
- bobmack13

You're not moving the guy who won the 3rd most face-offs in the league despite missing 11 games and was only 60 wins behind Giroux playing in 7 less games(you gotta think he at least get's 60 wins in 7 games considering his average wins per games is 14.4. Also on pace to win more 23 more than Bergeron(#1) in the same amount of games played(80)) to the wing. Not happening.

Backes, Zetterberg, Stamkos, all play or sometimes play wing. All take a ton of draws. It doesn't matter who's taking the actual faceoff.

Didn't Steve Ott take a ton of faceoffs?

Tread lightly when speaking of facts around here. Like winning 56% of draws is good or something

AHL is considered minor league. KHL is the equivalent to the NHL in Russia. I see what you are saying though.
- c1067

The AHL is a closer comparison to the KHL
Same with the Swedish league & the one in Finland.
Those are all roughly comparable...

The NHL is a huge leap above
That's why anyone who plays in those leagues is still available for the POINTLESS rookie of the year award.
And that's the way it should be.
Only thing the NHL might wanna do is lower the age to maybe 23 instead of 25
But like I said...
It's a pointless & meaningless award IMO
They should just do away with it

Have we atleast reached the point where everyone can agree:

If Stamkos is available...YOU GET STAMKOS

Probably the biggest example of what you're talking about of Iginla.
He played wing practically his entire career,
But he always took faceoffs for Calgary.
Haven't paid much attn to see if he was doing it after that, but he was the Flames #1 faceoffs guy while he was there.

Also...
Wasn't Tavares playing the wing the other night against us?
Seems to me that it's not just Tampa that's moving guys around to free them up a bit more offensively

I have no doubt that we'd be able to figure out some kind of lineup of Stamkos were to come here.

They give awards for everything . Best rookie of the season should be one. But with different limitations. Age 22, games played 55 (2/3 of a season),

I really could care less though

And I'm glad Jack isn't gonna win it.
I don't even think he'll be part of the final 3, which I'm also good with...
More motivation for the kid

Put Stammer out there with RoR or Skunk and Eichel. Let the 3 that are out there decide who plays where. During the game they are everywhere anyways. That's like arguing whether ketchup goes first or mustard.

I know they always will...
Just think it's dumb

I'd rather they just named an all-rookie team
3 forwards, 2 defensemen, 1 goalie

You'd still get some arguments
Like this year it would be Panarin, McDavid, & then u can make a case for who the 3rd should be (prob Eichel, but it's close)

I think it'd be better that way

I get the feeling there are a few that have that mind set.

Stamkos is available to the Sabres ? You do what ever you can to sign him. Last player we had of his caliber ? ?

?

That's the point everyone is really missing
Glad u brought that up

Positions are more for the defensive zone.
On offense, it's so fluid that all the forwards are constantly changing positions anyways.
