Having said that, it's still best to freak out. Potentially 3 more years of full throttle hysteria.

Absolutely....hysterical reactions are always the prudent path forward.

I kind of think that too. Hopefully Van didn't waste a first round pick on him. I don't really like that if your drafted by a team you don't have to sign and sign with another team. The player should have to wait till he is traded to play in the NHL.

If van is going to draft a Finn this year. I see Boeser as almost expendable. How many top 6 RW can you have.

2. 1 on the first line and the other on the 2nd.

I have a feeling if Edmonton is picking "first overall" they are going with Mathews. But if they are anywhere else they are picking the best Defense, even if they land "second overall"
Toronto is harder to predict since they need every position. Vancouver, our needs are more sporadic which makes BPA possible of where ever we land. Winnipeg has some holes on forwards. Their D is set for a while. If they are in the fourth-sixth range I can see them trying to trade up to get that top three pick. In any case I think Jim Benning will focus more on the second to fifth round picks and this time next year we will be full homer mode with the later round picks developing nicely.

I disagree, I think Oilers will take BPA. Matthews is a no-brainer at #1, despite how many top potential C's they have. After that, they need the wingers and D, so I cant see them going 'off the board' so to speak

Botch wrote about the Plan, today at the interviews a lot of the team members expressed the same head scratching. Danny Hank Miller Hansen Burrows MCCann Hamhuis and Higgins all said they didn't know what the team is planning or what direction they are going
- VANTEL

After reading Botch's article, I think he knows what the plan is but still isn't happy with the approach.

The impression I am getting is JB has some players he wants to sign- NCAA UFA's and established veteran UFA's. I guess some college ufa's are available now and some will be later if they don't sign with the clubs that drafted them... and then guys like Lucic and McGinn will be after July 1.

and as Burrows has stated, the draft lottery will impact JB's plans too.

Lots of variables that can impact the moves of the club. Whatever the mantra is now about getting younger and faster. How much can you spell it out before you are handcuffed by it?

As for the players not knowing the direction, all they should be concerned about is playing well and doing their job.

If the players are scratching their heads over lineup decisions by WD, so are many fans and pundits. If WD isn't making his decisions in collaboration with JB and TL, I can't see him lasting another season if the club doesn't improve.

Ive stayed fairly quiet on the NCAA front but I think it's apparent that there isn't a snowballs chance in hell either Demko or Boeser sign. Let's trade their negotiating rights for whatever we can get at this point

Please don't get confused about the direction once again because Botchford wrote some more dog poop. The usual people are already biting on it and making the jump.

Why would the vets have much to say about the direction of the Canucks and potentially the end of their careers for some? The proper response would be to tell people to ask the kids since the plan is in their future.

Can you read minds? No. So if they dont have much to say about the obvious.... it's because they dont want to answer about it.

I can see the direction. I'm sure the Sedins can too.

This. The players aren't dumb, whether or not they like the plan they know that the league pays attention to these press conferences and you dont want to handicap your chances of making deals or improving because the media wants details on the offseason plans. Every offseason Edmonton says they need defense, and every offseason they can't find a deal likely because teams were trying to squeeze them out. Just look at the narrative of Hamhuis at the deadline, trying to buy low because it was known Van should move him and Dallas hoped to buy cheap.

Players like the Sedin's know the plan, maybe not all the fine details but enough. The media doesnt need to know everything

Pretty stupid I'd say. Just about anyone Vans drafts in the top 10 can help this team. Have lots of quality young players. A couple years and team will be right back to contending.

Should be. Another challenging season ahead and then we should start seeing some fruits of labour the following years. I'm up for it, anyone who was a fan through the 70's & 80's should have the patience.

Benning VERY cryptic about how he is going to approach free agency this summer...

Benning: Boeser looks to be top line material. He was dynamic in that finals game in Tampa. Right now we are drafting in the top 3, and those 3 particular players all look to be 1st line players as well. So we are going to have young players who will be our core players moving forward after the Sedins.

Not Panicking or anything, but Benning has not met with any Canucks management yet. Benning has met with his agent and has had supper with Thatchers parents though...

Benning says BPA, no surprise. Fair enough, how can we afford to say no to Tkachuk or Laine. d man will be picked with one of our first two rounds I'm sure.

Exactly. I bet the Sedins know what the plan is and have had several meetings with MNGT. Beyond that they don't need to divulge much to the Players. Hammer and Burrows don't need to be told the teams direction as they most likely won't be here next season. Horvat will the the next Captain so I can see MNGT and coaching starting to include him in teams future plans and meetings but beyond Horvat and the Sedins right now...the rest of the players are in a 'don't need to know' area. Just because Botch the tool need something to stir crap up doesn't change the overall facts.
