Just this oh this former 1st overall pick can be had for pennies and we should take a chance on him concept. There's a reason he's available and it's because he's not very good.

Yikes, never realized this:

Yakupov: 252 GP, 111 pts
Foligno: 267 GP, 93 pts

Not very impressive to only have 18 more points than a 3rd/4th liner, plus at least Foligno can play on the PK (with nhl.com's rework, I'm struggling to quickly find these numbers for SH TOI)

32 of Yakupov's points are on the PP, 11 for Foligno

Before looking this up, I would have been onboard the "why not"train

Edit: it wasn't NHl.com that was bad, it took me to Edmonton's site. NHL.com says Yakupov had 15 seconds of SH TOI in 60 total games. "Only" 30 minutes in 75 games for Foligno.
