As of right now, Neill is about the only one I can see playing in Utica.
Petitt and Stewart look Kalamazoo bound - Codes1087
Probably.
Labate, Cassels, Valk, Zalewski are all listed as centers in Utica. More room on the D. Subban should play with Tryamkin next season. Haha would look so funny. |

He's probably better at trading than he's shown. I really don't think anyone could have done better with Gillis' expiring UFA's who give two team lists and only one of them is willing to make an offer. Also, trying to fill the generation gap by trading for young players already in pro is not an easy task. You knowingly are going to have as many fails as successes with this approach but it has to be done or the young players he inherited would be old by the time his own picks are in their prime. Other GM's we had in the past would rather trade off the picks for mature players and keep widening the generation gap. - boonerbuck
Generally I just get annoyed that he's, for the most part, incoherent when he talks, he's says a whole lot of nothing when he speaks and he sounds like an idiot when he's doing it.

Why do you care if he is articulate? You think he a moron because he is a terrible public speaker? I'm a poor public speaker and had straight A's through UNI. He is a scout and talent evaluator i don't give a (frank) if he stutters when he speaks. I care about his drafting - CanuckDon
Exactly. Public Speaking is an art of itself. I know many extremely bright people that are not good at public speaking. Leave JB alone and let him do what he does best. |

Many speakers will tell you that there is often the conversation in your head ( loaded with all the details you cannot divulge to the public ) and the conversation coming out of your mouth trying not to give up too much.
It doesn't always come out well.
Maybe in an effort to keep the dissenters happy we can petition MGT for a better Public Speaker, to get them off JB's arse??? |

Isn't that kind of where the rumours of George McPhee came about so he could do more of the talking and benning could concentrate more on scouting, drafting, developing. |

Why don't you call your buddy Botchford and work on a jointly coordinated effort to retain Brian Murray as Bennings replacement |

I don't think you want to abuse the use of waivers. Biega's signing of a one way contract looks worse on Benning and the Canucks than it goes on Biega. Everybody knows exactly what you are going to get, night in and night out, with how he plays. Benning and co knew this when they signed him. Unless he suddenly dips and becomes a -30 player midway through the season, you don't just put players through waivers because management made an error in contract negotiation. |

Biega's contract isn't so bad. a bit pricey for the minors but a bargain for the NHL, even if he is sitting in the press box. |

he only gets waived if someone beats him out of a roster spot, 8 dmen.
I'm expecting 2 dmen in the press box most nights. |

[quote=LeftCoaster]Re:Jim Benning,
It's how he expresses himself, or lack there of, that forms my opinion that he's an idiot...in general. I've said all along he's very good at collecting youth; Virtanen, McCann, Baertschi, Etem, Boeser, Demko, Tryamkin all in less than two years.
That's better than Gillis did in five! Sure there's no "highend" kids there but some really impactful ones when you look at a team as a whole.
Benning says poop one day and then contradicts it the next month or two down the line....he's an idiot. He shouldn't be allowed to be interviewed or have pressers anymore
Hey now Button was on 1040 last night and said people are crazy if they don't think demko and boeser are elite level prospects. So you know take that to the bank lol |

I expect the same. I am just saying in regards to Subban making the team over Pedan, Larsen, Tryamkin, Sbisa, Edler, Tanev, Biega, Stecher (one can dream right). |

you get up to $950k relief on buried contracts and Biega's is one way is $700.
I am not 100% confident in either of those numbers, and too lazy to look them up, but I think that was his point |

All I know, is that if a player signed to a 1 way contract, passes waivers, they still have a percentage count towards the cap |

I think it applies to 2-way contracts as well. As long as the player is over a certain age. |
