When it comes to attracting big name free agents having a team that is winning or ready to win comes first.
The Patriots cut big time key players all the time yet they still get players wanting to play for them...why?? Cause they win.
Forcing Moulson out the door if it comes to that will all be production based if he has another
-stripes77
Your theory isn't incorrect...
But there's other factors involved
The huge one being the $$$
Of course Stamkos wouldn't just sign for the $$$
But he can't join the Patriots of the NHL,
Bc of the Hawks' Cap situation
Many other teams, including most of the playoff teams this year, are also eliminated from signing top UFAs bc of the Cap

I was just about to post that. lol Looks like the majority are on the Caps for the Cup. Ducks seemed to come in 2nd. Homie has the Panthers, and there was one for the Stars, Kings and Blues and a handful for the Hawks. Pretty interesting.
Edit: I think I saw one for the Preds too. And only Ion didn't fill out their bracket. |

Pommer sucked when he was here, no thanks. Good luck with those boat anchors. - SABRES 89
Poms sucked in BUF? Really? For a guy who any team could have had for $250 in his first year when Regier passed him through waivers, I think he turned out quite good. SH OT goal vs OTT mean anything? I'm guessing you're only half serious and just playing with the MIN fan? |

I feel like the old guy in the bar whose saying "You kids don't remember the good old days..."
While Pomminville was never a superstar he was a perennial 60 point and above guy his time here, was a great leader and solid penalty killer. He's also responsible for the greatest Sabres goal of the last two decades so let's show the guy a little respect. Fans probably thought he was going to be the next Perry or something but in reality he was a solid above average player while here and Buffalo chose to ship him off at the right time as his play has declined now at 33 years old. |

I definitely think we'll be in the mix...
But who knows what Stamkos is thinking
I think it's possible we add Vesey &/or Caggiula
I wonder what UFAs might be on the radar if we miss out on Stamkos?
Most of the guys are too old for my liking,
But if Backes would sign for 3 years...
Kane-O'Reilly-Backes
Could be a real b!tch for other teams top lines to play against
Idk if those type guys (Ladd, Yandle, etc) would consider such short ten deals, especially on a team that's not a contender yet |

Instead of paying 10 million for Stamkos if Murray can tell before July 1st that there's not a solid chance we can get him we should fork up the 8 million for Eriksson.
Reinhart Eichel Eriksson...

Idk of there's any UFA that I really want besides Stamkos
Unless someone would sign a short term deal, without a NTC
That way we could potentially leave them unprotected if it's not working out
Or just trade them |

I don't want him back...
But he was good for us
Not great, but a solid overall player who rarely made mistakes & put up plenty of points |

I wonder if the Lightning staff sprinkled a little Gulf Coast sand in the walkway from the Red Wings locker room to the ice. Lots of Wings players flopping around. And the Bolts players seem unaffected. Hmmm...... |
