what don't I get explain it to me - SABRES 89
" I feel like the old guy in the bar whose saying "You kids don't remember the good old days..."
While Pomminville was never a superstar he was a perennial 60 point and above guy his time here, was a great leader and solid penalty killer. He's also responsible for the greatest Sabres goal of the last two decades so let's show the guy a little respect. Fans probably thought he was going to be the next Perry or something but in reality he was a solid above average player while here and Buffalo chose to ship him off at the right time as his play has declined now at 33 years old." |

It's history, long gone. Pominville is washed up. Believe we moved on from him years ago.

Show him respect for what? Brad May had a bigger goal and Drury also scored big goals and all that means nothing. 60 points is nothing but keep falling over him like he is the second coming. He's an average player and that's the problem with Sabre fans, they love the average player that has done nothing. |

That hardly constitutes as (frank)ing average. If you read my whole point you'd see I said he wasn't a superstar but he was a great player here and did everything right while producing at a very high offensive number and also being a great leader. Saying he did nothing his whole time here is (frank)ing ignorant |

The point was some people think he did nothing here and that's just plain stupid. I know he's not as good anymore that's not the (frank)ing point |

That's because for decades the average players were our superstars. We got lucky with a few nice players: Hasek, Lafontain, Mogilny, but we never had a true superstar. |

According to hockey reference Jason Pminville and Patrice Bergeron have a 94.1 similarity score over their careers(both at 11 seasons). 100 is a perfect match. |

Everyone's in love with ROR and he "only" scored 60 points this year. Pominville was a very good secondary player for us during the Briere Drury years. I'm not saying more than that. I liked the guy. Maybe not as much as some, and I probably wouldn't want him on the team now given his celery, but to just write him off seems a bit harsh.
Edit: added the "" to "only". |

Yeah, Hasek was a star, but lets face it, we've never had any Gretzky's, Lemieux, Orr, Howe, Hull, Messier, Crosby, etc.. There's never been a time in our history (with the exception of Hasek who's good years were wasted on us) where we could say, "This guy is the best hockey player in the world right now."

All 3 playoff games blacked out for me here in California. Game Center subscriber.
Of course, I pirated the 2 early games, bouncing around from link to link.
Had a good youtube feed for the hawks game until it got shut down.
Not exactly sure how alienating your fans benefits the league.
I understand exclusive broadcast rights puts $$$ in the owners pockets, but i would think as an owner, your first priority would be your fans. Mostly because you're already filthy rich to begin with. |

Hasek was the best player in the world when he played. There is no question about it.
Maybe because he was a goaltender makes it seem different than a skater, but he was. |
