I can see a team like Toronto or the Blues taking Nash on for sure. It's not like he is washed up completely and I am sure the Rangers understand retaining a good chunk of his salary, regardless where he could be shipped to, is a given. - MidnightMarauder
I think some are underrating Nash from a trade value perspective. He is one year removed from scoring 42 goals, third in the league. How many guys are capable of scoring 40 in this league anymore? Not many. And you couple that with the fact that he does everything well on the ice, and the Rangers, IMO, would get a significant, significant return for him, and wouldn't have to take a whole lot of salary back. Now obviously, he's had his playoff struggles, from a goal scoring perspective, but I don't think that kills his trade value.
Obviously, he will need to be traded for any of us to be proven right or wrong regarding what his value really is, so we may just be left to argument.

He's broken down pretty good unfortunately.
Despite not wanting him in the lineup anymore, I was always a fan of his form his past performances.
But, I like the sweater more than any individual that wears it so what's best for the team is what needs to be done. |

Count me as one person (with probably not too many other allies) that doesn't believe its a good thing to have Girardi miss, when McDonagh is already out.
We are rolling with two minimally played rookies in a playoff game against the hottest team in the league.

I do agree wholeheartedly that he is being undervalued and could get a nice return. He is still a strong winger and, like you pointed out, is only a year removed from scoring an impressive amount of goals. |

for years and years the goaltending and the defense have carried this team. Now is the time for these forwards to carry the team.
Lots of high priced forwards here, they need to take some pressure off this beleaguered blue line and stop the games from being the end of the world just because we give up a goal. Sidney Crosby is going to score goals, the obsession about who to blame when he does is nuts.
Win a game 5-4 if you have to |

Skjei looked pretty good Wednesday and, quite honestly, I am not sure McIlrath can look as ghastly as Girardi did in Game 1. |

Hank and the forwards can lead this group to victory tomorrow. Pittsburgh's defense is extremely average and can be exploited. |

I don't know Pete. You know I am not a Girardi hater, but I actually think this could be a good thing. Girardi hasn't been himself all year. McIlrath might make some mistakes, but he does bring an element Girardi hasn't had all year, separating players from the puck. |

Vigneault being very coy about possibility of recalling a D from Hartford. Said Raphael Diaz played last night for the Pack #NYR
Andrew Gross @AGrossRecord 17m17 minutes ago
So, AV not necessarily saying who his six d-men are tomorrow. Raphael Diaz is now healthy and played last game for Hartford. He's a righty. |

I don't disagree with any of you about Girardi. But I will also say, for all the botches we notice, there are a lot of good subtle, veteran plays that aren't noticed. I obviously want McIlrath and Skjei to go out there and rip it up, but two guys, that haven't played much, in a pressure cooker against Crosby and Co.? I'll take the vet d-men, who for better or worse are the guys that played all year long.
There is that old saying how the backup quarterback is always the most popular guy in town.

They are going to have to find away tomorrow. It might not be pretty, but they need some of the big guns to step up, and they need great goaltending, from someone.

Right on Jimbro. Defense and goaltending has been the reason they've gone far for years. Lets see the high priced top end guys finally start to show their worth. Hank in with a black and blue eye that almost got slashed out by Marc, G is out, McD is out, step up for those guys and finally outwork a team please. Get in Zatkoff or Fleury's crease and hammer away. Start to go to the gritty areas already. |

My father heard G is out and he wonders if they've quit on the coach. He says G never misses games especially come playoffs and that for him to not say he's fine and AV just basically says everything is wrong with him as far as injury he thinks they've quit. I sure hope not. I also don't like taking Brass away from Zucc. Those two are great together, complement each other well. |

Anthony, they don't play an 82 game season, after just missing the last two years, to quit after one playoff game. Just listen to what you are saying on that one -- does that make any sense to you? And, if it were true, that would make these guys the biggest bunch of wussies in the history of pro sports, and I don't believe that at all.

See I disagree here. I think Nash is a great player and an underrated all around player, but if he has no goals in a first round exit ( i dont think it will happen but it could) how many teams want that near 8 mill cap hit? Cant see STL making a move for him if they don't go far in the playoffs how would they justify adding a guy who does not have many fans of his playoff performances. Dont see why TO would want him, they just unloaded alot of high priced guys and would want to tank another year.
A team like SJ makes a lot of snese to me, but the rangers cap space savings would most likely be minimal. IF they are trading for cents on a dollar, i think hed be better off being kept.
