the difference is instead of having jeff carter and simon gagne we have matt read and michael raffl - 2Real
If we're gonna go that route, the difference is we have Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds instead of Jared Ross and Ryan Parent.
I can name good players and bad players on both teams, too. |

Agreed. Go back to rangers 2 years ago. Doors blown off in game 1 and most of the series yet stretched it to 7. Mason alone will get them one. The pp will probably get them one more - Just5
the PP that couldn't even get one measly goal yesterday? |

Good try.
I think the fact they lost that series in 6 in a real gut wrenching last game might lose your point on some people. - mayorofangrytown
Game 6 sucked, but the point is that losing Game 1 against a better team in bad fashion isn't a guarantee of getting swept. |

Not meant to be inspirational so much as check yourself at the door if you're gonna come in saying the Flyers suck and have no chance of winning the series/some games. - jmatchett383
Got it.
They don't suck, but their chances at winning the series are slim to none. But, imho, that's okay as I didn't think they'd be there in the first place. |

Where does signing Stamkos preclude you from drafting and developing?
Why do I have to wait 3-4 years down the road to sign a FA?
At 26 Stamoks can be part of the now and future.
People seem to keep saying stick to the plan, draft develop and then wait years to sign a FA. But why does it have to be that order? - J35Bacher
It's simple, really. If signing Stamkos doesn't put you over the top, doesn't guarantee you a cup win, and prohibits your ability to do anything else in Free Agency, it's a detrimental move. It prevents you from upgrading anywhere else other than the draft; which clearly shouldn't be our only avenue of team improvement.
Instead, you stick with the plan, hope to find the next Panarin, and continue to build. If you don't find Panarin (which you likely won't), at least you will have solidified the other roles on the team. At that point, you go ahead and pull the trigger for you sniper or whatever you want.
Some teams should love the idea of signing Stamkos at this juncture of their team's progression. I just don't think the Flyers are one of them. |

No, it couldn't. Hopefully they do score PPs in upcoming games, something they did in 3 of 4 meetings against Washington this year. |

is this sarcasm? the reason you cant is good for both players and teams. GMs spend more wisely for the most part and a player doesnt get jammed into the AHL just because of his contract - YuenglingJagr

it was a nice hand to play, but it is going to be much nicer when they dont have to work around the cap until they have their main core in the ir primes

Fans want to do it. I'm sure Pittsburgh would have loved to bury Scuderi last year. All (most) teams have bad contracts. But the GMs/players don't want to allow it again. |

He makes a lot of sense for teams without a 1C. I think Toronto will get him by offering 7 x 11. |

Neither does your way.
But on one hand Stamkos is a know quantity where picks and prospects and European FA's aren't.
For every Panarin there is a Jrir Dopita.
With Stamkos age he can be part of the plan for the now and future. He doesn't cost you picks and he fills a need.
I don't know why there is this set order of:
Draft, develop, once better sign FA.

Hey, you pulled me in. I totally grok the situation.
I'm hoping there's truth to be born from it.
I'm afraid that might be the best game they had to give considering how they finished the season over the final couple weeks. |

I agree on the experience. If the worst is realized, it points out even further the need for size and scoring on this squad
