If they allow him to play next year, he will help. Need more, I wonder what Okposo would cost as an UFA - 3flyerkids
He would certainly be a big forward that could help us. Simmonds wouldn't have to be the only steam and stand-up-for-teammate guy. Haven't paid enough attention to see if Isles or himself plan to continue their relationship |

They have too many guys to worry about re-signing in the coming years to get locked into Stamkos. Only way I throw him an offer is if they get out of AMac somehow with zero money retained and little to no contract coming back. - hereticpride

Read looks painfully slow. Did his speed just disappear.
I would rather throw Leier into the lineup and sit Read.
Raffl - Giroux - Simmonds
Voracek - Schenn - Gagner
Leier - Cousins - Laughton
4th line - J35Bacher
I will be fairly upset if Read is in a flyers sweater come next season. He stinks. |

I'd throw Voracek back on the right wing, move Raffl to center and put Laughton on their wing. Voracek is struggling so take him off the top line and let him play his natural position.
Schenn - Giroux - Simmonds
Laughton - Raffl - Voracek
Read - Cousins - Gagner

I guess I am glad I missed the game last night. Losing Couts (probably) is going to be the nail in the coffin as far as I am concerned. Even if he remarkably returns he is going to be far less than 100%.
It is what it is. This team achieved great things this season just getting to the playoffs. Hopefully they learn some lessons about consistency, understanding now that those lost points in October and November actually mean something.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked at some of the posters in here and the negativity, but that is all some people have I guess. |

So you have to sign them all?
And I know Jakes and Couturier contracts kick in.
There are ways to do it. Trades. Buyout Umberger. I really don't see it as such a big problem like everyone keeps trying to make it out to be.
I would rather spend money on a established, young superstar then overspend on a guy like Lucic, Okposo, Boedker.

I could get with this...Schenn and Jake could be interchangeable and maybe Gagner gets a few extra minutes in the top 6 |

I'm a glass is half filled half emptied guy. One would assume without Couts we'd be cooked based on our record this season without him, but we still managed to contain Ovi and their top line and PP for the most part without him last night. The negatives are always going to stick out more than the positives when it comes to game-takeaways. |

I only answered to just say which players. I've been on board with you for however long with taking a run at Stamkos. But yeah it is doable, Streit and Read's caps would absolutely have to be off the team. Amac would help too but that's a very long shot |

10.1 million in space before Vinnys 2.25 comes off and whatever happens with Umberger...Then a Streit or Read trade make it possible...but not probable
The risk is down the road. Do you get into a situation where you cannot pay a young defenseman because of cap constraints. I think it is possible to find a deal that works but you can be certain that there will be an overpayment for Stamkos as well. Not sure why the others would be considered overpayments but Stamkos wouldnt be |

Yeah. Took a high stick from I think Niskanen. Either in the head or neck it looked like. Looked on purpose too. Broadcasters weren't a fan of that. |

Definitely room to mix and match. They're gonna have to get it done by committee without Couturier. They beat the Caps without him earlier on in the year. Just gotta do it four more times. |

I think Streit can be moved. Oilers are craving some defense help and Streit could be a guy that helps them with there youth.
I would retain some of MacDonald's salary or add something to make him more attractive like a 3rd round pick or Laughton
Buyout Umberger.
Yes the cap might be a little tighter to start but you continue to reshape the roster year after year.
Hell maybe you look to move Schenn after this year and sell high instead of signing him. Kadri deal is probably the starting figures.
I just don't think it as scary as others do

No real love for either team, but
Why on Earth did Simmonds get an additional two for roughing? Where was the roughing? I saw a case of two guys fighting. Seemed to me like the classic case of NHL officials not wanting a team to have a power play late in the game. |

It was when he skated up to Wilson he gave him a shot. Regardless it wasnt much out of the ordinary and a pretty lame call. Wilson taking a guy to the box with him, especially Simmonds, is likely by design. Flyers need to be smarter than that. The "next game" excuse is a bad one |

The biggest fear I've picked up based on people's thoughts on it is having 8M+ each for 3 forwards, which is understandable, but as you have said, there's way to work around it. I think we can move Streit but it's a shame we won't get a return for him like we all assumed before this season. Read could be a nice guy to ship to a young team with needed cap. I'd prefer to keep Schenn. And I guess we can't fully rule out Hexy fiddling with Amac. We all said Vinny wasn't tradeable for months.

Stamkos will get paid. Top guys do.
Guys like Lucic, Okposo, Eriksson, Boedker tend to benefit from weak FA options.
I was actually high on Boedker but when someone told me to really look at the numbers I found he is more of a Matt Read type. Yet he is probably going to get something like 4.5-5 million. Lucic probably around 6-6.5 maybe even 7.
If I am spending money I would rather spend a little more on an asset with 40 goal potential almost every season.
