which is why they need to get johnson locked up for 2 years
give him 5 mil total and move on, should have locked him up mid season when the price was lower - homiedclown
He wants to be a starter, that's pretty well known. I don't think there will be a starter job for him anywhere except maybe Calgary. I have faith he will be back.
If this happens there is no doubt in my mind we will be a playoff team and possibly contending for the division if the goaltending holds up! - Stripes77
I, for the first time in some time, am going into next season expecting to make the playoffs.

2 years $5 million is a good contract IMO. - Stripes77
I got laughed at when I suggested 2 years 3.5 mil around x mas
I can see TM going after Hall or Eberle, I think he's trying to build a core team that can play together for a while before we see anymore older guys signed... but if he gets what he wants as the "core" I could see things changing quickly.
Personally I think he is going to try and pull something major again this year to get the team where he wants it, That could be stamkos or a dman or both... should be fun to watch it unfold though. Only 15 days till we find out where we draft.

i think hall is going to cost too much. if you look at what edmonton needs and what chiarelli has said as far as halls value, the conversation has to start with ristolainen. thats a no go on our end. eberle is trickier, he makes 6 a year for the next 3 years, not exactly overpaid but not cheap either- for a one dimensional winger. depends on what edmonton wants for him, but my guess is that hes not a murray guy and we would be outbid.

Not having those types of players causes low goal totals. Nothing wrong with having one of that type on the team. Pretty sure the Hawks don't hate Kane.
The Sabres top players are all considered two way players (some better than others obviously):
O'Reilly, Kane and Eichel were all given decent significant PK minutes (O'Reilly most, not surprising). I don't have backing, but I think Eichel probably saw his PK time increase as the season went on.
Other "top 6" Sabres - Reinhart, Ennis, Girgensons. All are not solely 1-way players. Reinhart may not have gotten much PK time, but it's not like he's considerend one-dimensional.

I agree Hall is going to cost a lot but we are going to find out real quick what TM thinks of his players, and who he thinks are his core. I don't see any way Risto is moved or about 5 other guys but I'm not TM
There are other ways to make a trade attractive, he could acquire 3 or four guys just to use as currency for a larger trade. He as all kinds of options open because of the cap space and all the young guys in the system and coming in the draft(s).
