I See Cousins as the 4th line center. I don't know what they have in Laughton. I have been a little disappointed in him but also remind myself he is young. I know when a player is a first rounder teams may tend to have that player take a different development route than a third rounder but I like what 2-1/2 yrs in the AHL did for Cousins and wonder if Laughton would have been better in the AHL. the Flyers do seem to have more 3rd/4th line forward prospects in the pipeline. hopefully kids like Konecny is the real deal with 1st/2nd line talent and hopefully Lindblom is that 3rd line with possibly 2nd line upside.
I know you always go with best available but I want to see the Flyers take a wing or center with size at 18. - nastyflyergirl
Yes, they need size upfront. Size with some skill. I really miss Hartnel. I hate that trade more and more. I don't care about saving a year. It's not like he's a guy who has ever really had injury problems. Seems like he'll be a valuable player thru the life of his contract. |

What do you think about putting Streit in the first PP and Ghost on the second? I feel like they're depending too much on this kid and he's pressing. Might take a little pressure off him. Might open things up on the first pp too |

I'm not sure how replacing a better pp QB with a slower, worse QB opens things up...I mean the new look PP last night looked better than it has in the last handful of weeks. No reason to not check it out again.
They played well enough to win at evens and on the PP. If they repeat that I like their chances to keep it competitive. It's the terrible PK that has really done them in. That's what needs tweaking the most. Zero adjustments so far. Caps are slobbering over our unit's passivity. Do what they do to us. Choke points on their umbrella. |

That does nothing to help PP1 and they'll cover him just as much on PP2. How about putting Streit in Jake's spot, Jake in Schenn's spot and Schenn to PP2? |

True the pp did look ok...just no goals. It's like when Nuke wears the garter belt under his uniform. It makes him a little uncomfortable and he stops thinking about what he's doing and just plays. Streit would make everyone a little uncomfortable. The line needs a little shake up.
I don't get the PK. Why don't they play more aggressively? Is this the game plan or is it just a lack skill or confidence? |

100% game plan. Lappy has done this all season on the PK, and they run their 5v6 the same way. They think passive shot blocking is optimal. |

Has anyone in the media asked Hakstol why his #6/7 defenseman who averaged 15:03 in ES TOI during the season led the team with 21:02 last night? |

How about replacing Streit on the 2nd PP unit with Medvedev? |

AND the game before that pair led in ES TOI. 2 min more at evens for Manning than Ghost.
That pair certainly was terrific from a possession standpoint down the stretch, but that's on Gudas. I'm ok with giving him the most minutes because he can drive play at least. But please for the love of all that's holy, let Ghost ride shotgun with him if you're going to give Gudas that juicy usage. Or Medvedev. Manning is being used as a top pair guy, and it is laughable and mind boggling. |

I'm on my phone so I have limited browsing ability on Natural Stat Trick, but
Simmonds (and his top line presumably) spent 8.5 minutes with Manning at evens last night. 3.5 with Ghost. Is that a joke? Why isn't Ghost getting ice time with the team's best forwards? Want offense...? Put your best d with your best F. |

im willing to bring Demers in. Prob going to take 6 yrs/5.5 AAV minimally to do it. We will have the cap space. We can't just lean on provorov alone next year to take a step. We can trade schultz

I hate to say it gang (well), but its time for the Flyers franchise to really take a look in the mirror. There are certain FACTS of the NHL that just ARE. The most important being, you cant win without TOP END, TOP NOTCH offensive talent. and the second most important being you don't get that talent in trades or free agency. Stamkos this year is once in a decade (if not longer) UFA. I cant think of the last guy that was out there that could turn a franchise around.
I say this with a HUGE amount of respect, please understand. Maybe with the passing of Mr. Snider, it is now easier to gut the whole team, suffer a little and retool it all. Its really not like you have been competing for Cups in a long while, and you have the type of team that you could really get a ransom of picks for trading the vets. Honestly, look around the league and be HONEST....as far as #1 centers go, where is Giroux?? Hed be an AMAZING #2, but a true #1?? where is he? 16?? 20??. I can honestly tell you that looking at OUR team...I don't know if Id trade a 25 year old Ryan O'Reilly straight up for him. If you also traded Simmonds and Voracek at the draft...youd get a BOATLOAD...
I am NOT trying to be an ass..just how I see it...I like nothing more that hating the Flyers, and this franchise in its current state is making it hard to hate....I see you very much as us in the Vanek/Miller/Pommiville/Roy years....some talent that on any given night can impress, but when the poop gets real...they just ARENT good enough.. It HURT watching us linger in last for 2 years but now...watch Eichel and Reinhart (who you cant believe how good he is...) do their thing and watching what we received for trading Vanek, Miller, Pomminville, et al start to come together...Id do it all over..we aren't PERFECT or even COMPETING yet....but its coming...
I know the idea of watching these guys walk out the door is going to be hard. But like us in those years...how much longer are you willing to watch the Giroux, Simmonds, Couturier, Vorachek show just MIDDLE it?
Not trying to be an ass I could write the same post to Boston, Ottawa and any number of other teams - Ripped Fuel
I love you, welcome home

I think you can target him. He's 27. He's a two way guy. Only concerns I have are why he's played 61 and 62 games over the last two years? So if it's a durability issue maybe I'd pass. But he's RH and basically an all situations type of player. |

I've been vocal about Demers. He's an advanced stat gem...a Stralman like underrated player. He may even be able to be signed for slightly less. Bona fide top 4 anchor...two way d man that can shutdown the opponent's best. Probably can play as a top pair wingman too. And he's at a good age and righty. I would love to sign him. |

Played 81 games last season. He was traded. Suffered a late injury this year though. |

I have to believe Lindblom is going to sign his entry level contract soon. There is nothing to suggest in his time with the Phantoms, that his game can't be effective with the smaller rink. |
